I hurt my lower back and had been to my GP, taking meds and gone for physio for more than a year. At this point I was doubting whether I would get rid of back pain ever again, but I had to get relief somehow. Fortunately, after the first session with Dr Guy Ashburner I'd say that the pain and discomfort reduced by 40%, after the second session by another 40% and after the third session it reduced to a mild discomfort which I hope will resolve completely as I follow the suggested exercises.

I met Dr Ashburner 10 years ago. He was recommended by Jan Buchner, dog trainer, who for sometime could not walk due to back pain. After few sessions with doctor, problem was gone. We had similar problem with my son. Went to various doctors, nobody could help. I even imported special chair from US, no results.So we decided to go to Dr Ashburner. Results of his treatment were amazing. After few sessions my son was in no pain. This was 10 years ago and up to today pain is gone.Then 8 years ago I had shoulder pain. Went to specialist in one of the best hospitals in Cape Town. All modern equipment, screens etc. After examination doctor suggested operation. I di not like this idea and went to Dr Ashburner for help. Doctor told me, there is nothing wrong with shoulder. Asked me if i am going to gym, which I confirmed. I found Dr Ashburner after pulling my back out quite badly twice in a 6 month period. Since then he has helped get me back onto my feet and provided knowledge on what to do to make my work station and everyday activities that I do work better for my posture.I didn't think that my posture was that bad before (and my boyfriend has commented the same thing) but I can tell that I am now standing up much straighter than I had been. I know this because although I have always been taller than him there is a larger gap in height between him and I now.I can also tell that I am standing up straighter now because I used to fit under the shower head and had clearance to wash my hair and now when I stand under it I am only a centimeter away from touching the shower head.Overall I have had a great experience with Dr Ashburner and would recommend him to anyone looking for relief from back pain.

One morning I awoke, immobile and I unable to move my upper body - the pain was excruciating.My immediate reaction was to go and see a doctor. The doctor led me to a physiotherapist and later ultrasounds and scans and suggested surgery not to mention the extremely strong medication to keep the pain bearable. From September 2021 I started experiencing debilitating symptoms such as back pain and stiffness, body aches, numbness and tingling in my hands and feet as well as an off balance sensation when walking. The symptoms I experienced seemed to come on suddenly and caused me to be in extensive pain. Being a student who was always very active, it was starting to affect my quality of life. I had sought help from various specialists at the time including an ENT. I had also seen multiple neurologists who ran numerous tests, however they could still not find what the cause of my symptoms were. They prescribed me with various anxiety medications as they thought my symptoms were stress related, however the medications had little to no effect. I had also sought out alternative means of treatments from chiropractors and acupuncturists, which gave me little to no relieve as my symptoms still persisted.I was feeling very hopeless and despondent at the time, as my symptoms had gotten so debilitating to the point where I was having difficulty walking up right as I felt so unsteady and off balance on my feet. I was at the point of giving up all hope, until I was referred to Dr Guy Ashburner. After the first session of treatment I immediately noticed a reduction in my pain levels, especially in my back pain and already felt more stable on my feet. I could not begin to explain the immense relief I felt, knowing that there was help in sight in the form of Dr Ashburner. In addition to his effective treatment methods he also advised me on the appropriate exercises I needed to do, to help strengthen my upper body which involved doing standing pull ups, squats as well as barbell deadlifts. In my case with my hypermobile joints, these exercises really helped to further strengthen my muscles and to improve my overall joint stability and health. Dr Ashburner also helped me to understand how important it is to be more mindful of the way I move and made me realise how important maintaining the proper posture is in sustaining my overall well-being.After a couple of months of treatment with Dr Ashburner I can honestly say that majority of my symptoms have been fully reduced and I’ve only seen improvements ever since. He is a very kind and compassionate individual and really takes the time to invest in his client’s health. And this more than 2 years of constant back, hip and shoulder pain. I had no clue I could ever be pain free again or what that would feel like. Well, I am very grateful I found this doctor as not only did he adjust me, he gave me exercises that I now do, to stay out of pain. Very grateful as I had visited a few doctors before and no one had helped me. He is the real deal with decades worth of experience bringing bodies back into alignment.

I went to Dr Ashburner last year (2022) when in a desperate state of pain and muscle spasms. Not only did I find his bedside manner abrupt and strange (even a female practitioner warns you or asks permission to lift the side of your shirt!!) but after i emphasized my level of pain and body sensitivity, he proceeded to perform a considerable SI joint adjustment on me. It’s not my first rodeo, I’m aware of what a gentle adjustment is.This put me in much more pain than before my appointment. All he said was I ‘was in a healing crisis’ and then insulted my intelligence by stating that he ‘treats the elderly and babies so he couldn’t have hurt me’. Subsequently, I went for an MRI at kingsbury hospital which confirmed that I had TWO annular linear tears in my lumbar spine with minor protrusions. Not only did he not pick up on any of that but he put me in that compromising adjustment and simply told me my hips are weak and I need to sit differently. Not only would not refund me, but continued to call me when I had specifically asked for email contact only or to leave me alone. I see many havd had a great experience with him, perhaps mine was simply an exception, but it was awful.
