Beechwood Gardens
An absolutely gorgeous venue, perfect for a picnic party or outdoor wedding/reception. Parking is available outside in the road, though, which isn't ideal in Joburg.

This is a very tranquil place. It is a good place for a picnic, feed the ducks or a relaxing walk. Do all if you like... Well worth the time... Recently visited for the Trail of Lights. Absolutely blown away.

Beautiful location but priced accordingly.Service was a tad on the slow side bit it was very busy when I visited. Beautiful atmosphere in the gardens and lots of outside shade. The salad was tasty and the carrot cake delectable.

Cascades Hotel
This low rating is based on the accommodation. Our overall stay was good but the following concerns I feel are worth mentioning as it’s not the standard I’d expect from a 5 Star Hotel. We had 3 rooms, 101, 105 and 106. On the first night, there was a HUGE cockroach in room 101, which caused a lack of sleep to those occupying it because of the uneasiness. The next morning, there was another huge cockroach in the passage. I unfortunately could not eat my breakfast, disgusted by the sight of the cockroach. I reported it at Reception - there was no empathy or apology- just was advised that they will send someone to have a look and fumigate the rooms. In room 106, which was our room, the shower had standing water the first morning. In the evening when I washed my hair, there was more standing water but this time it flooded the bathroom, making it slippery and unsafe. We used the pool towels and called maintenance and housekeeping. They explained the problem was the shower head and replaced it with one from an unoccupied room. This then affected the pressure of the water, making it very slow. However, when they did this, something happened to the toilet which kept dripping all night…affecting my sleep. The pool area was lovely and clean. The pizzas and cocktails were good. The service however was extremely slow, same as our previous stay. The breakfast spread was good, I didn’t enjoy the pork sausages so just didn’t have them the next morning. The glasses for water and juices are ridiculously small, causing many walks back and forth to get more. After standing in the line for a long time, to get an omelette, I was told that it’s a “vegetarian” line and I can’t add ham. I didn’t notice any signs that could have directed me otherwise. The staff generally look tired/unhappy/unenthusiastic. Don’t know if they’re not paid well or what the issue may be - just didn’t experience warm, friendly and welcoming service.I almost forgot to mention that when I called central reservations to make the booking, after almost 11 minutes, I hung up as there was no answer. This was unfortunately not the first time I tried calling them and they didn’t answer.WiFi was practically nonexistent the entire stay. Could not even send a WhatsApp on the WiFi.We love Sun City and will definitely be back. I’ve been going there since I was a child. It’s sad to see that the hotel is poorly managed/maintained.We also had issues during our last stay and the fact that some of the same issues still remain, is concerning that feedback is not taken seriously or not followed through via the correct channels.I trust my review will be received in good faith and that the necessary changes will be executed as we will be back and look forward to a more positive experience.

If you want to have a picnic and have kids, this is the spot to be. Kids have a huge area to run freely, it's safe and you can feed the ducks by die dam. Plenty of shade, just bring a blanket to sit on the grass that's very well maintained.

So I went here as a life science excursion. My grade 10s enjoyed every second, one the hiking trail, seeing all the different flowers, and the waterfall was one to see. It was as amazing as it is in pictures. Myself and my learners enjoyed every little bit

My second experience in a long time was very refreshing and amazing. How wonderful was it not to disconnect from the realities of life and connect with nature in the beautiful vicinity of Kirstenbosch. It was so refreshing , it felt like renewal on another level . The services at the Mayo Restaurant was excellent. The staff members are so well mannered and kind hearted. The African dish that I had was amazing and the Strawberry milkshake is highly recommended. I'm really looking forward to visit again.

Entry is R15pp for non Stellenbosch varsity students. A lovely little garden. We walked here from our accommodation as everything is so close. The Bonsai garden was truly spectacular! Great place.
