River port

The place is absolutely stunning, right on the banks of the Vaal River. They have a very cozy, vintage" little cottage above the restaurant

I have never been there before and I was very impressed. My friend and I ordered the crumbed chicken breast and beef curry. The portions were more than generous. My curry was very good spicy enough for me who enjoys hot curries. The price for both meals was excellent at R130 per meal. Princess, the waitron, service was very good. It is an ideal venue for celebrations as there was at least 10 plus birthday parties that I could see. One can also enjoy lunch or picnic on the banks of the Vaal. I will definitely go back there and also book there lunchtime boat trip.

Nice place to chill

Great venue with a nautical theme. Cozy in the bar area. The food was great and served hot. Only gripe was the service was a little slow. However, could be due to short staff on a public holiday.

The food was not that great not many choices provided but they are warm just too much salt on the meat and the meat was spicy. The music was not very engaging, another improvement they could add names on the dessert menu. The atmosphere is incredibly people are cheerful.

We wanted to try something different than the usual Jhb and Pretoria outings and ended up at Stonehaven on Vaal. What a lovely surprise. We were greeted in such a welcoming manner on arrival and made to feel at home immediately.They have a great restaurant with some comfortable seating inside and much more outside. Outside is especially nice for those that have children.The waiter that served us was very friendly and made sure we were looked after. The meals were delicious. The portions are very generous. Our choices were garlic snails, Ribs and Chicken wings. All can be recommended as great choices. They have a good assortment of wines available and even have some sweet wines which we love and which every other establishment seem to forget about. If you enjoy whisky, they have about 30 to choose from. We didn't have space for dessert, but the milkshake was great.Once you have indulged in all that the restaurant has to offer then you can you can take a relaxing river cruise on their boat for R120 per adult. (Weekends and public holidays only). The boat has a cash bar and the round trip is just less than an hour.Thanks to Stonehaven and all the staff for a relaxing outing.

Good river

Amazing views of the river, great food and the drinks were delicious! We sat outside (it was winter) so we quickly moved inside. It was so romantic and lovely. I’m keen to come back!

I love

The place is great.. The set up is lovely.. there are many fascinating things to see there to keep you busy with.. the lake is literally a stone throw away.. however it gets soooo full that the service tends to be rather slow because there people ordering good everywhere..!!
