Dàjiā hǎo ! I enrolled the Practical Mandarin Level 1 in 2022. Luo Laoshi is a passionate teacher , who invests a lot of time in producing comprehensive and easy to understand written material and conducts the classes such that we all actively participate.I chose to attend the class online and the level at which she engages both with the online and in class students is really great. Luo Laoshi takes time to ensure that we all understand each concept , even revising previous lessons when she sees a student may have missed a concept.I had such a great time learning mandarin and a word of advice - it is much better if you invest personal time to revise what you have learnt and do the homework assigned. Another thing i enjoyed is learning the cultural and historical aspects of China , that are covered in the class. I would recommend this class 100x over .

I was a student in Q3 2021 and would highly recommend Lucia’s level 1 course. Her passion for teaching shines through and this really allows her to bring the course material to life. It also makes the course unbelievably good value for money, and very interesting to attend. If you apply yourself, you will find the level 1 course to be an excellent foundation for further Mandarin learning.

Huang Laoshi is a kind and patient teacher who makes learning Mandarin fun and personal! If you want to learn the language as well as gain a more nuanced understanding of Chinese and Taiwanese culture, I would highly recommend this centre! There are also so many opportunities for fun events and workshops, like cooking classes and calligraphy. Incredible value for money as well!!

Huang Laoshi Mandarin Centre hosts amazing cultural events. Tony and Nikita are very friendly and welcoming to all. The cultural events are incredibly interesting and entertaining. They are informative and they give you the opportunity to learn about a different culture. They also offer you snacks and tea when attending. I would definitely recommend attending their events.

Teacher Huang is very patient and has a good sense of humour. I signed up for private lessons over Zoom, and it's been one of the best things I've done this year.His focus on grammar and sentence structure as well as pronunciation and tones, has really helped me improve my Mandarin. I highly recommend his lessons to anyone that wants to learn or advance their Mandarin.

Have been taking Mandarin lessons online for a while now, and have thoroughly enjoyed them. The lessons and notes are really well paired, and Tony is great at explaining how certain aspects of the language came about, which is interesting and helps my understanding.Definitely recommend HLMC if you're looking to learn Mandarin or do some cultural courses.

Having been studying Chinese with Huang Laoshi for almost a year now, I can confidently say that he is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Our weekly lessons are always very entertaining, yet extremely productive and insightful - you can tell Tony is a skilled educator. I also thoroughly enjoy the cooking classes and cultural events that Tony and his wife, Nikita, host. These events are always lots of fun and are something to look forward to. Tony and Nikta go above and beyond - from Tony answering any questions I have at any time of the night or day, or to dropping off Zongzi that Nikita has cooked. I look forward to many more years of learning with them!

Huang Laoshi is an absolutely wonderful teacher. You get the right tools and fantastic lessons from an excellent and patient teacher. The classes are always interactive, creative and fun. I can highly recommend him to anyone interested in learning Mandarin.
