Dàjiā hǎo ! I enrolled the Practical Mandarin Level 1 in 2022. Luo Laoshi is a passionate teacher , who invests a lot of time in producing comprehensive and easy to understand written material and conducts the classes such that we all actively participate.I chose to attend the class online and the level at which she engages both with the online and in class students is really great. Luo Laoshi takes time to ensure that we all understand each concept , even revising previous lessons when she sees a student may have missed a concept.I had such a great time learning mandarin and a word of advice - it is much better if you invest personal time to revise what you have learnt and do the homework assigned. Another thing i enjoyed is learning the cultural and historical aspects of China , that are covered in the class. I would recommend this class 100x over .

I was a student in Q3 2021 and would highly recommend Lucia’s level 1 course. Her passion for teaching shines through and this really allows her to bring the course material to life. It also makes the course unbelievably good value for money, and very interesting to attend. If you apply yourself, you will find the level 1 course to be an excellent foundation for further Mandarin learning.

I have been a student of Lucia Laoshi since 2019, despite taking a break during lockdown, I am back in class and loving my mandarin training. Laoshi not only focuses on the language, but gives us an in-depth view into the culture, history and traditions of China. I truly recommend her training and encourage students to work hard and diligently to really get the most out of her detailed courses.

What an amazing teacher. I really enjoyed the course which is very well structured and easy to follow. Not only does the course focus on getting you speaking, there is also a lot of insight into Chinese Culture as well. What you put in is what you get out so make sure you do your homework and prepare for the next lesson to get the most out of the course. Looking forward to doing the next level.

No doubt that I would recommend this course for anybody who is keen to make a start to learn to speak Mandarin.Its good value for money and Teacher Lucia is very knowledge-able (on more than just the language itself) but also Teacher Lucia is a good teacher....no doubt that you will have to do your part (and this is what I appreciated the most) that Teacher Lucia really wants you to learn! So, there is some homework and re-enforcement of the previous week's learning via exercises and questions.Definitely takes you out of your comfort zone (in small steps, of course :-)) but you feel like you have achieved something on completion. Luo Laoshi is a great teacher! Her many years of experience is evident in the way she has structured and simplified her course for students who study Mandarin as a second and even a third language. She is passionate about her language and her culture and so keen to share it with others - she even spends time shopping with and sending recipes to the cooking enthusiasts among us. She keeps her classes small, and her teaching style is hands-on and practical. She is attentive to the needs, development areas and interests of each student.
