His teaching methods certainly aren't for everyone. Keep up or fall behind befuddled... if he spent more time waiting for one to get it right patiently and less time telling us every lesson how many passed through his doors in 30 years and are now fluent I wouldn't feel quite as much of a bad taste in my mouth. The warning bell should have sounded when he bad mouthed a previous online student as crazy. It wasn't an enjoyable experience, quite the opposite and not one conducive to learning for me. This isn't for everyone. I was told in class you're not stupid" which I did not feel an appropriate way to treat anyone getting a lesson

I needed to learn Spanish and pass the DELE A2 exam within 3 months and Jose was able to help me achieve this! He has extensive teaching experience as well as many years of DELE specific knowledge. I have since written and passed the exam after only two months with Jose.I have taken both private classes as well as his group classes and can highly recommend both. He is warm and enthusiastic and clearly loves to teach and connect with his students. Jose strives to instil a love for Spanish and Latin culture in his students and truly manages to do so. His classes are always entertaining and constructive and I continue to attend.

Jose and his institution have added so much value to my life over the past year and a half. He is such a character and I have a lot of fun in his group classes.The students are lovely and I'm so happy to be a student of his - it has really helped me to keep my Spanish at the forefront and motivates me to keep learning and persist with the amazing support from him.Muchas gracias professor,Saludos xx- La Guapa :)

The School of Spanish is certainly the premier choice when you start learning the Spanish language and also when you are further down the road to fluency. José is an incredible teacher with a vast amount of teaching experience and knowledge and it shows! I would recommend this school to anyone wanting to learn Spanish.

The ability to grab and keep students’ attention and convey complex information is what excellent teaching is made of - a blend of art and science. José gets his students involved and has the ability to explain things clearly which makes him so successful in the classroom. José is a fantastic teacher with a real passion for teaching and all things Spanish, which is quite contagious. His classes are FUN and inspiring and this is what keeps his students coming back for more. This doesn’t mean classes are easy, José always challenges and makes us work hard to produce the best results. We are taught to think in Spanish and not just learn parrot fashion. Small, intimate classes with likeminded people, plus café and infusiones… what could be better?!

I have had many language teachers over the years and I can say that, without a doubt, José’s teaching methods are the best I’ve ever seen. I have been with José for three years and every year I just keep going back to his classes. His methods are exceptional - well prepared, tried-and-tested over 30 years of teaching - and, as a bonus, he manages to always keep the classes light and fun. For me, Spanish class is the highlight of my week.

Enrolling in the School of Spanish was one of the best investments I could have made in myself. José is an excellent teacher and his classes have the perfect balance between grammar and fun, real world, exercises and activities. The groups are just the right size and the classmates are always fun, interesting people.After 5 years of Spanish classes with José, I now live in Chile and can happily report that all those grammar lessons really paid off! When I started Spanish lessons it wasn’t even my idea initially - a friend gave me a nudge. That I am still attending classes, a full nine years later, can be attributed entirely to José and his passion for teaching. I get from José’s classes exactly what I want: a mentally stimulating course in a relaxed environment and one which accommodates the fact that I have a full time job.It’s difficult to consistently find new material and mediums with which to teach us and yet José’s infectious enthusiasm keeps the class fresh and stimulating, year after year. He is, without doubt, one of the best teachers I’ve ever had because he’s exceptionally attuned to each one of our linguistic strengths and weaknesses. (He always knows when I’m going to walk into one of his “Gringo catches”!)I would wholeheartedly recommend José to anyone considering learning this beautiful language.
