MTN Store - Bayside Centre

I feel like my consumer rights were violated. I went to the MTN store in Bayside with the intention of upgrading to S23 Ultra and taking another contract for my wife since she's in love with iPhone 14. I didn't know that there were 3 types of iPhone 14 until now. I explained to the consultant who happens to be a supervisor, Anthony, that I want an iPhone 14 with 256 GB memory. He advised me to go for an iPhone 14 Pro with 256 GB, and it will cost me just over R100 per month, and I appreciated that. When I got home, my wife was happy but proffered an iPhone 14 with 3 cameras, which is iPhone 14 Pro Max. I called the store the next morning to explain to Anthony that my wife wants an iPhone 14 Pro Max instead, and he said NO. He claimed that he'll speak to his manager and come back to me. He never came back to me until I called him again. He said his manager preferred that I come to the store to speak to him face to face. Anthony was off the next day, so he suggested that I come on Thursday when they are both at the store. Thursday morning, 9 March 2023, I called Anthony to say that I'm on my way. He said both him and the store manager were at the store so I could come. When I got there, his colleagues were there next to him, but no one was introduced to me as the store manager. He claimed that he spoke to the store and regional managers, and both of them are against me returning iPhone 14 Pro and taking iPhone 14 Pro Max instead that costs more. I would've understood if I was taking a cheaper iPhone 14. What happened to the 7 days return policy? And mind you, I'm not just returning but taking a more expensive device? And it's not like I'm not happy. My wife preferred a top of the range iPhone 14, and I acknowledged the fact that I signed a contract because I assumed that it won't matter. Now, we are considering legal advice to take the matter with ombudsman because there is a returning policy that was ignored. I'm not going to take my Samsung S23 Ultra with MTN until the issue is resolved and given a valid reason why they say I have 7 days to return the device if I'm not happy. I had a problem with not having access to my data or airtime at all. As this was becoming very frustrating l decided to go in store. A friendly consultant helped me throughout the whole process and explained why it had happened which l appreciated so much. I wanna thank Anthony for displaying good customer service and professionalism ... Keep up the fantastic work Anthony !!!
