Given the state of the country you would think visiting a 'small town' branch of Home Affairs would be ulcer inducing. The opposite is true for this Port Shepstone branch. This place is more organised than most private or listed companies. A refreshing oasis of competence.

I was there 2 hours before my appointment as I expected to follow the queue, however the 2 guards,1 female and male refused to let me in before my time. Eventually got inside at 12.50,only to be told that I have to follow a queue. It's so annoying that we are told to make appointments online for What. Just to show the world......I was there for 100 mins, could have been quicker maybe if the printer and computer worked and less talking amongst themselves,. Why do Public servants act like public bosses and only speak nicely to their own language. SAD

Very organized process and dedicated staff. Information system slow resulting in slowing the process. I booked an appointment and it took 1 hour 45 minutes to complete my application. Well done to the staff for their dedication to get things done.

I was pleasantly surprised at the service. The entire process for ID and passports took 2,5hrs for the family. Use the online booking system to make an appointment.

My booking slot was between 12:00 - 13:00 PM on the 13th of June 2023. I am pleased with the service I received by 14:20 I was on my way home, considering I have tried DURBAN OFFICES( UMngeni + Commercial) with no luck always telling us about the system problems. So I had to travel from Durban to PST for me to be able to apply for both smart ID and PASSPORT. Today is the 20th of June 2023, I have received a message for my ID collection, oh by the way you can apply elsewhere, on the day of application request to collect at your nearest offices. I will be collecting at UMngeni. The price for the ID is R140. PASSPORT is R600. Thank you :)

All previous experiences at Home Affairs have been pathetic. Port Shepstone team are doing it right. Wow! Professional, respectful, helpful and efficient. 10 stars if I could.

From the media, South Africa's Department of Home Affairs seemingly expresses the epitome of government incompetence. Not the Port Shepstone branch. It's an island of efficiency, courtesy and organisation.I booked my application online and was given a time to attend. I went early and was told courteously why I can't go in - by the security personnel. On my return, I waited for 1,5 hrs and all was done. I was most impressed to see a baby change facility.I saw all the people treated with dignity and respect. The place was clean, as we're the toilets.Every government official should visit this branch and take a lesson from their colleagues who know what Batho Pele is.Thank you !!

We waited from 5am in line but it was worth the wait. The staff are competent and professional. They were extremely helpful. We were in the offices at 8 on the dot and attended to promptly. I would recommend this branch for anyone needing passports or IDs.

Can't believe I'm actually giving a government office 4 stars. I've been here on 3 or 4 separate occasions and the service was fast and efficient. Apparently this is one of the best Home Affairs in KZN and people travel from all over the province to come to this branch. Make your life simpler by using BABS i.e. Branch Appointment Booking System.
