The Department of Transport and Public Works (DTPW) has opened its new motorised pont at Malgas. This allows public traffic to cross the Breede River at this point avoiding a time-consuming and expensive 90 km detour by road to reach the other side of the river. Operating hours are 06:00 to 18:00 every day. However, operators may, at their own discretion and without notice,

My first time and wow. Friendly staff and such a quick trip. The walk on people were also very friendly. These people know what their doing. Thank you will be back soon

Malagas Pont - Ferry - free crossing
Lots of fun. A New Years Floatathon had been arranged by locals for holiday-makers like us. The kids all took to the waters in their vessels & had a rave. There were even prizes from locals for cleverest vessels. A little Pont with two or 3 barrels & 2 beds on them win 1st prize. The famous Pont over the River was functioning & carrying cars. Olde Worlde & fun. There is a small hotel, & an Algemeene Handelaars store. . What more could one want ?

It was a treat to be faried over the pont. Always heard of the pont and Moksie Dann. So glad I could experience it myself.

Breathtaking!! The two gentlemen walking us / pulling us across with a swing of the wrist, chain grabbing the cable and walking up and down to make the ferry move across the river were pleasant , joking with us and in no time at all we were on the other side.Awesome experience!

Really a lovely experience. My first time on a Pont. Well managed, friendly service, and no nervous feelings of sinking. The Pont is in excellent condition. Well worth the visit.
