Pick n Pay Newcastle

It has good cashiers and till packers that have friendly smiles and have good security services as I once lost clothes that were situated in one of their trollies and the security guard kept it safe and never stole a thing which shows that they are trustworthy and loyal to their customers

The cashier was friendly, but the I think the title is Frontline manager, she and the lady working by the lotto side, are the most unfriendly, unprofessional people I have met, I approached the lady at the lotto stand, and asked if she has cash as I need to make a withdrawal, she firstly did not respond when I greeted, all she said no cash , not even a smile, the FL manager I approached, to find out which till has money as they where busy n I did not want to stand in a line for Nothing, same unfriendly attitude, she did not greet back, she walked away to a till left me standing there unsure what to do, she goes to the till where, the cashier Also asked her for a till with cash, as another customer also asked, so must I take it as a race thing cause that how I felt cause I am indian, then looking over her shoulder, at me asked who wanted cash I said myself n and the other lady, she said join the que still not turning around, but talking over her shoulder, I responded, saying the lady was before , me to which all 3 staff members n the manger shouted, to the lady she can go straight to the till as she was in the que, as if I was not going to let her go first, made me very uncomfortable, n feel like n outsider in my own country, if the FL manager can be so unprofessional, and sorry to say racist, then her staff will do the same, I work in customer service, and what I experienced is not, I know difficult customers as I deal with alot off them, so I do my best not the be a difficult customer, or did they treat me differently cause of the way I was dressed, sad to say the 1st place I learnt customer service was in Thea very same store , over 20yrs ago my 1st job was merchandiser , n I was based at that store, and learnt alot from the PnP staff, which I still practice today, but sad to say the service is terribleDisappointed customer

Shop was fully stocked. The till guys when i came with one drink he told me the special and i took 2. Friendly guy. Only issue i have when i went was that there was a bad sewage smell on back side of shop that actually put me off a-lot. I don’t complain alot with reviews always try to see the good. But that smell is just not for me.

Some other things are not there and not fresh

Custome Care is useless. I phoned to query whether they sell the OVHD pvr usb sticks. After 12 minutes of holding on I eventually terminated my call. How long does it take to give a simple yes or no. So needless to say I still dont know the answer.

Friendly staff. The cashier asked if I want a plastic & I said no then he gave me his own.

The supermarket is big and clean. Plenty of parking space and ATMs by the door. Other shops within the shop space
