Amazing experience. The cottage is just a dream and Vermaaklikheid is out of a picture book. The outside but covered entertainment area is so wonderful for rainy days, with a braai and outside stove for banking breads and making potjies. The cottage is fully fenced making it a perfect getaway with fur kids. Highly recommend.

Beautiful little stone cottage in the heart of verkmaaklikheid, perfect for a romantic getaway or just to get away from it all. Even though it's 100% off grid you've still got all the modern day tech too be connected to the outside world. Our next stay will be much longer

Wow just wow, truly a little slice of heaven ! Well appointed, linen fresh as daisies and scenery for days. The bird life is incredible and the star gazing out of this world! What a pleasant experience! Pets can roam/explore freely in the large fully enclosed yard while mom and dad take a break. Even though the cottage is off the grid, it lacks nothing - even more than ample bedding for those extremely cold nights. Thank you also to our friendly and efficient host. Will definitely return asap.

Beautiful and peaceful. The river is a gem, and a paddle up and down the river is a must. The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable. Upstairs bedroom could be a bit challenging after a couple of glasses of cooldrink, so we chose to stay on ground level :)

A lovely liitle cottage with everything you need for a simple, enjoyable stay. We can recommend Paddahoek cottage and Vermaaklikheid as a great place to come. During our stay, along the river and around the village, we saw a magnificent male bushbuck, Verreaux eagle, fish eagle, various hwks, kingfishers, woodpeckers as well as reed cormorants, waders with Cape Robin chats etc etc... Magical.The cottage is cosy and well appointed with all you need and Hester is a star. Highly recommended.

Paddahoek Cottage
Vermaaklikheid is a little hidden gem and staying at Paddahoek Cottage, with our 2 fur babies, made it even more so. It is picturesque, private and well equipped, you really just have to take your clothes and food! The lovely stoep is a great kuier spot, where you and the dogs can chill. Being completely off the grid is another big plus, and that it is a short walk to the river for a swim.

What a gem of a find! Such a cute cottage in such a peaceful place. No shops around so make sure you stock up before getting there. Super clean... The bed was ultra comfortable and the Egyptian cotton bedding was total luxury. The Dover stove and braai outside makes the covered area surprisingly warm. Long drive from deep south cape Town but if you need a complete break from mankind... This is your place... Worth every kilometer!

We had the most delightful time here. The cottage is beautiful with all you need for a comfy stay. The outside area is lovely for braaiing and chilling. Our dog came with us and loved the large garden. Restful, beautiful area and well worth the visit for some peace and quite away from city life!
