This is the worst after hours emergency vet I have ever seen! The so called Dr Tandeka was not bothered about my fur baby dog choking and struggling to breathe. He was so cold and rude and had zero sense of urgency to help.. you get there, then he is the reception person as well as a 'dr' vet..he then asks you to first fill in a lengthy form, without even taking your dog to help with the actual emergency! He talks so slow and doesn't ask any questions neither does he show any emotion or sympathy! We also had our other bigger dog there as we couldn't leave him at home..and then this guy tells us, to put our dog outside in the cold, 'as it's a hospital and that dog is not sick' but there was no one in reception..we were the only ones there!! Then when you leave your dog outside, they can fit through the roadside security gate, which is not covered with mesh or anything! So eventually my choking fur baby had an x-ray done..only to be told that there is something stuck in her lower esophagus..and this 'dr' then said he must keep her overnight to give her anesthesia and push a pipe down her throat..but he can't give any reassurance about whether the procedure is risky or that the anesthesia won't be life threatening.. I was shocked, in tears, desperate and at a loss for words! The 'drs' assistant was just as rude and when I asked him if someone will watch over her during the night as she is extremely anxious by nature.. the assistant rudely said that they are here on the premises so there is someone here..but he never once said that he'll give her some extra care.. I asked him why are they so upset and non caring, to which he said: I'm not the doctor, speak to the dr; then he turned his back on me in his chair and just ignored me! It literally seemed like we disturbed them from their private party or sleep! There are only 6 cages in there, not separate from the hospital table..and there was only one dog in one of the cages..who looked severely drugged and non responsive, but awake..just staring.. there was no water in there and no heating provided for the cold tiled floor..The 'dr' then said to us, the total amount is R5500 and that we have to still pay more once we fetch her and take her to her house vet for further operations! I then felt very uneasy in leaving my baby there.. and I said I want to stay overnight until she is breathing normally again.. the guy said NO, I can't, and pointed to the sign on his door, saying 'staff only'.. as if I'm an idiot.. my bf told him that there is no need to be rude and be so childish.. the 'dr' then shouted back, I'm not rude! My bf said, you are! the guy continued to argue, and he then took my bank card, but before swiping it, he said to us, 'would you like to somewhere else' .. then I had enough and I said yes, and walked out.. he was just so uncaring and heartless.. neither my baby nor I have ever been so ill treated like at this so called animal hospital..needless to say, we had to drive 20km to the BEST Animal hospital there is, and I shall review them 5stars! FVH..That doctor was the most caring and helpful as a 24hr doctor should be..my baby was given a vomit inducing mixture and the blockage came out and she was given a pain injection and anti inflammatory tablets to take home, and the doctor said that she can go home, no need for severe operations or any trauma like that so called vet thandeka said, who only wanted money.. plus this excellent doctor charged much less!!This northwest vet clinic must be closed down, and thandekas license revoked, as he is a danger to animals!

Very disappointed. Called in to find if the vet has experience in soft palate repair for my cat, and was told that Dr Peter Anthony Mundy-Castle has lots of experience in it, but he is not interested in helping if we aren't current clients of theirs. Absolutely PATHETIC

Fine for routine stuff but when there was a problem with my French bulldog puppy limping they did X-rays and diagnosed him with hip dysplasia and said all kinds of scary stuff before rushing me out because they were closing. They did not give me any kind of advice or guidance that would help me with the puppy’s recovery. Two weeks later I see a specialist and it turns out he broke a small part of his knee while playing. So they totally misdiagnosed him and I could have treated his knee sooner. If you want a vet where care is taken to guide a new pet owner through potentially traumatic situations maybe look elsewhere. It’s a pity because the people are friendly but I think they take on more than they can handle so they end up not having time to care for each animal thoroughly.Hope this helps.

Most compassionate and competent vet ever. My animals are my world and I trust Dr Leoti Morkel completely. She's awesome.
