Virgin Active Gym CapeGate

Great gym and friendly staff, would give 5 star review if they had more classes for those that aren't stay at home moms or people that don't work flexible hours. Maybe a 7pm HIIT fitness class would be awesome. Just my suggestion.

This gym has the best variety of weights, machines, and benches of all VA gyms I have been to. They even have a few stairmasters! Some machines are older, squeaky, and are tricky if you're a newbie. I get the idea that machines are not maintained as regularly as other gyms. Smith machine is ageing but still effective. No other gym other than this has the nautilus lat pullover machine. It's amazing

This gym is very dirty. Even the bathroom. You literally just touch the matts or medicine balls and my hands are black. Air con is never on, it’s like gyming in a sauna. The staff has attitude. I’m from joburg and the virgin actives there are always clean, there are always cleaners on the floor, the staff is very nice and helpful. The equipment here is very old. You would think that it being in the cape it would be even better than the ones in joburg, guess not…

The sales team are either grossly incompetent or complete scammers. I joined this gym in October while they were running a promotion whereby you could gym for free for December and January if you went to gym more than 4 times in the first 30 days which I did. My bank account was debited for December and January because they did not log my workouts as my membership card was not activated, so I am out of budget by R1800 for four months now as it is taking ages for them to process my refund. I then tried to change my membership to Vitality at the end of January and the sales agent keeps lying to me saying that my vitality membership is activated and yet I cannot access the gym with my Vitality card and I’m Discovery has no record of my gym membership. I have been going to the gym consistently for the past 4 weeks so I’m effectively losing out on rewards points as well as on the discount because of the poor admin of the Cape Gate Virgin Active. The change rooms stink and the steam room does not work properly as well.

This is a great gym, the equipment is clean and it works. There are a multitude of activities on offer and the place is modern. The staff are friendly and helpful which make the experience all the better. There is plenty of free safe parking with easy access. I find if you park on the undercover parking there's plenty of spots available.Generally we also visit the Spar which by the way is brilliant, their meat prices are excellent.

Slightly in the smaller side for a Virgin Active, but well equipped. Expensive cardio floor (treadmills, stationery bikes, stair machines, etc.), studio, spinning studio, weights floor and pool. Missing some weight machines available at my local VA in Tygervallei, but you can get a good workout here. Of course there's also a Kauai. The one missing star is purely because of the slight limitation due to the gym's smaller size, though it's not a deal-breaker by any means.

Dates old weights and equipment. Sauna always cold. If there is loadshedding in early morning the gym is closed as it is too dark.

It's too hot all the time, fresh air for me there personally is a problem, the water is never cold and the machines I feel are a bit old.Great vibe though

Nice looking gym, hreat facilities but I'd prefer more supervising" at the weight section because I am often bullied off machines NY some of the men there. Otherwise facility and location the gym is great."
