Quite frankly disappointed in the service received from the rental team.I saw a listing posted on Property24 for a rental based in Cape Town CBD listed by Christine. Over 3 days, I phoned her mobile number, emailed via Property24 and even SMS'ed and WhatsApped. Finally, I called the office only to be told that Christine no longer works with Steer & Co. As such, 3 days wasted because no one on the team thought to change the contact details on the listing.Finally, now that I have been able to be in contact, I am told that there are problems with the rental space and a viewing cannot occur until maintenance can happen. This is no trouble as I was not in too much of a rush. I was very understanding and informed the team that as soon as it is possible, I would like to arrange a viewing and am highly interested in renting the property.Imagine my shock when, last night, I opened my emails after getting home to find an email sent at 08:20 stating that there is a viewing scheduled for between 16:30 -17:00 that day. Which I have already missed. Quite frankly, I was highly disappointed at the unprofessional short notice. Especially after the interest I showed in wanting to view and rent the property - I have called and emailed multiple times since the listing to try arrange any type of viewing - regardless of the maintenance work being done.I understand that there has been a lot of interest regarding the property in question and that individual viewing would be too much for the team to handle and I was perfectly happy to attend a group viewing. But, one organised at such incredible short notice is, honestly, unacceptable, and inconsiderate to potential tenants. By no means do I expect any agent to bend to the will of viewers in terms of viewing dates and times - I do believe it should be a consideration regarding people's working times and prior notice in order to make a plan to attend. This was not possible for most in this situation.I'm unsure about everyone, but generally most people work until the hours of 17:00 and cannot simply leave work early on such short notice to attend an unprepared viewing. In my case, I work in the Durbanville area and only make it home, to Gardens, by 17:30 at the earliest. I do hope that in future, the Steer & Co team will be more considerate, professional, and more organised.I called this morning to enquire if I could attend a second viewing. Only to be told that there would be no more viewings arranged as there have already been multiple applications submitted. And while I understand this, I would have been appreciated if I would have had the opportunity to be one of those applications.As such, I have lost out on somewhere new to call home because at the end of the day I'm just a number to your team.Thank you for your time and I look forward to a response.

PART TWO: IS VERY IMPORTANT TO GIVE THE FULL STORY AND WHAT HAPPENED. I AM REALLY HOPING WITH MY REVIEW I COULD HELP RESCUE OR STOP ANY ONE WHO WANTED TO USE THEIR SERVICE.FIRST READ PART ONE TO FOLLOW THE STORY:Now, Chantal in a very cold manner responded, I received feedback from my portfolio manager (Sandi Nel) yesterday, haven't I shared it with you yet, let me send it to you. Then, I ask, what the outcome/feedback was received, and she replied its declined, with the employment contract, and affordability noted. Then, I am shocked of course, then I ask her, can you please explain to me what that means, then, she answered, I don’t know you need to speak to her, then, I ask, can you give me a contact number, then, she replied, no I cannot give you her personal number only her office number, although I did not ask for her personal number, then she gives me the office in order to transfer me to speak to the portfolio manager Sandi Nel. Sandi Nel is the same as Chantal, unprofessional, cold, rude, and also does not know all information she just wants to assert herself as righteous, extending no willingness to understand my queries. I speak to Sandi and ask her could you please explain to me what is the reason for my application being declined. then she gives me the reason which is contact employment and affordability. then, I ask, can you please be specific and elaborate further on these reasons? Then she says, we went through your bank statement and it does not reflect the same salary each month, we spoke to the landlord and the landlord criteria is very specific, first, permanent work, and salary must be steady for each and every month. Now, I ask her, I was very specific and I explained our situation in the first email why Chantal did not discontinue our application when she reviewed our application and supporting documents. there was no need to go through the process if we don’t qualify based on already fixed landlord criteria. why have those criteria have never been stated or made clear on the application from the start of the application to avoid frustration, miscommunication, and further expectation. This I found as deceptive because they did not disclose the criteria information from the landlord which should have been stated from the start. Now, Sandi is going on about defending the landlord and that she has had bad experiences in the past with contract employment, and it's very risky to give rent to someone who does not have a permanent job if I have a permanent job I would still go for rental instead of buying. Now, I offer Sandi, if possible could you speak to the landlord and we can establish three months in advance plus the two-months deposit in order to show a good reputation. Although, we pay R14000 per month where we currently staying compare to R6950 per month for the apartment. Then, Sandi goes on by saying and then what happened after the three months then I offer to pay 6 months in advance, then I offer to pay a 1 year upfront, still not accepting. Just worried about what will happen after the year upfront although the lease agreement is for 12 months. This has proven to me; STEER & Co is just a scam and all comments I have read reflect true experiences and I believe all of them after my own experience. why do you need to push agents to do his/her work if they are always kind, accommodating, and helpful but not steer and agents specifically Chantal and Sandi. Why the credit check fee is R200? when all other agencies charge R100 or a maximum of R150 and never separate payments for both applicants. This is clearly to scam and rob you in broad daylight. I would never recommend these scammers to anyone who is desperately looking for a rental or sale you rather sleep in the street from dealing with these inhumane people who call themselves cape town preferred property professionals since 1879 when they are far from being professional and acting established since colonialism. IAM VERY UNHAPPY & DISSATIFIED WITH THE POOR SERVICES AND COMMUNICAIONS RECIVED & WASTING MY MONEY AND TIME.
