I had an unfortunate event with the delivery couriers that delivered an online order from MAKRO to my house on Saturday evening 13th of May 2023.My domestic worker was home and opened my garage for the courier to off-load the boxes of wine that I ordered. The courier then proceeded to ask my domestic worker to charge his phone a bit as the battery was low and he still needed to do a few deliveries. My domestic worker then proceeded to take his phone into our kitchen to connect it to the charger. She left the courier in the garage during that time (a few minutes). She then returned to him and informed him that her charger does not fit onto his phone. He then got back into his van and left our premises.I've recently bought a new leaf blower as our old one broke. The leaf blower hangs on a hook at the entrance of the garage. My long-term gardener used it on Friday (the 12th of May) during the day as part of his tasks, and left it in its normal place afterwards. When he arrived on Tuesday morning I received a call from him asking where the leaf blower was. I was quite confused as the only person that was using it was him. It was clearly removed from its hook in the garage. He then proceeded to look for it with my domestic worker and could not find it anywhere.My only conclusion was that the leaf blower was taken by the courier on Saturday evening while my domestic worker went into the kitchen to try and charge his phone.I find this whole incident very disturbing as we use numerous couriers to deliver parcels to our house on a regular basis. We allow these people access to our homes in good faith. Crimes like theft are obviously a common occurrence in our country and are extremely opportunistic in nature, but never did I think for one moment that a courier will ***** your property while delivering a parcel.The fact is that there was no one else in the above-mentioned period at our house to deliver anything, so the only person that could've taken the leaf blower was the courier.What saddens me most is that after numerous telephone calls and emails to Makro, they took no effort whatsoever to address or investigate this incident. They merely brushed it off and never came back to me. Surely as a company from whom I bought a product they have the responsibility to employ ethical and responsible couriers to deliver their products, as it still forms part of the buying experience. They took no measures at all to address this or to prevent this in future. They were just not interested.My suggestion therefore to other consumers is to rather look at the variety of other online retailers when buying stuff online as MAKRO clearly have no interest in the safety or quality of courier companies that they use.

Never answers calls, puts you on a continuous loop to listen to adverts eating our air time for what? I have phone no less than 7 times this morning, 5 - 7 mins a call, no one answers!!

Appalling customer service at refunds!!20 minutes in queue which was extremely slow. Eventually I went instore to get help. A very competent & helpful young man came to the rescue & reduced the queue very quickly. Unfortunately he could not help me because the yellow card is out of service. This I got told when I was at the front of the queue, now 35 minutes in!!! I was livid!! They would phone me in a week to come back....Couldn't purchase Easter eggs because of this same yellow card. Had to get a temporary one for this purchase....An hour and 10 minutes to do these 2 things....I'm very disappointed. There has to be another solution than sending your customers away??!!

The service was absolutely terrible from the cashier who assisted us. She had a disgusting attitude. She said she called for us to come to her but we did not hear her. Another person at the back of the queue who was closer to her had to tell her to speak up because people can't hear her. We get to her section and she starts scolding us about how she has been calling and we lament that we did not hear. If she had indicated she was free even the floor supervisor would have come to call us and tell us she is free. 2nd incident was when we were trying to get her to scan the gas cylinder, she tells us she has a back problem so we must lift it for her, annoying but understandable However her tone was not pleasant at all. We try to pay for gas for 2 gas cylinders, the one we were buying and another one our friend was dropping off which is a 3kg. She says she doesn't know how much to charge for a 3kg so we must go to the drop off zone to get a slip for her to scan. We go to the drop off zone were our friend was to explain what the cashier said and he said that's not true as the cashiers only need to punch in the weight of the cylinder as the cost is already pre-loaded. The cashier is cashier number 4545. This whole exchange occurred at 3:30pm. Please train your cashiers to have better customer service. I took a picture of her incase you need to see who it was.

I was served very well when I went in person. The staff was very friendly. My online experience has also been very pleasant. I ordered a washer/dryer machine and it arrived very quickly. Generally, this Makro has high professionalism and good customer service.

Not recommended. I went there on Saturday to buy a Gas oven/stove combination for our cottage. Despite the store not being busy, the many sales personnel on the floor were unable to ensure a smooth sale. It took them more than an hour to sell us a the product we were looking for (from 2 options available, with only 1 in stock). They were not up to speed on what is / is not in stock. They did not handle the sale/document process smoothly. Delivery and installation was to be dealt with by Blingstallation. Their in-store rep was all over the show, ended up not giving us the correct documents (with several other outstanding concerns). Nevertheless, the purchase was made and installation was arranged for Wednesday. Then it comes to light, despite having given them my physical Makro Card, the store recorded my customer card number incorrectly. This sale could not have gone worse. I will definitely not be back.

One stop shop for all your needs - carries 90% of whatever you are looking for. Service could be better as staff could be more enthusiastic about helping customers. They just loiter around and mostly gisting amongst themselves.Employees or store manager should take Health &Safety more seriously as each time I go to this store, there is ALWAYS a freezer leaking or spilled item or ladder lying around with no clear signage.Due to its location, it could be a bit rowdy but with the express checkout, some days are better.
