In context of hiking overnight accommodation and camp facilities, this is as good as it gets! There are different accommodation options; they are all noticeably clean and well equipped. We stayed in the hikers house. The beds are comfortable, the linen clean, the kitchen has everything you need including two fridges, a microwave and all crockery and cutlery. There is a spacious lounge area with a lovely stoep for early morning coffee. The bathrooms have stunning showers and seperate toilets. The hiking trails are very well marked, well maintained and offer spectacular views and quite moments along the river towards the waterfall. This is a very special treasure indeed. The mountains are calling, and this is definitely the place to go.

Beautiful hiking trial with amazing facilities. If you are a hiker make sure to grab a few friends and go explore the beautiful trail they have there with waterfalls and a beautiful river. There are open fields and tracks which makes the hike not that difficult if you trek along slowly. There are showers ate the overnight chalets with gas stoves and beds.Stunning place.

Very pleasant experience overall. The communication with the coordinators was not a problem at all. I've done my fair share of hikes in South Africa and this was by far the most organised one of them all. The overnight facilities were exceptional. Clean and well equip units with gas geysers and stoves - even fitted sheets on the matresses! The coordinators really care about your safety and give you a two way radio to carry with, just in case. The hike is quite strenuous with steep ups and downs, but nothing too hectic.

This is a fairly well maintained trail with excellent hikers huts. They are spotlessly clean with hot water ablutions and have braai facilities and all the cutlery and crockery you need. The trail first day is about 16km and second day about 10km. Most of the route is in shaded valleys with numerous river crossing and plenty of attractive places to take a cold swim or lunch break or just soak tired feet. I was always able to find stepping stones so never had to remove my boots at crossings. The gradients are fairly steep in places so make sure your boots fit well and laces are tight. The caretakers are a pleasant and helpful couple and for a small fee will have firewood waiting at the overnight hut.

Great hiking trail. If you have full gear day 2 is tough. Very beautiful and great swimming spots. There is some spots that need some attention, like rods sticking out of the ground that is dangerous if stepped into. And the wooden gazebo is falling apart. The Huts were beautiful and beds were comfy. Just a pity there was only 1 bathroom for the 13 of us, and the shower kept flooding the bathroom

The place is amazingly refreshing. The hiking trails are quite a number but very clearly marked. This time we did the Matumi trail, deep in the bushes, clean tents with mattresses to sleep on. A lovely boma where we had a lovely fire and braai. The trail is clean. Hardly saw any litter. The river is such a pleasant feature that you will cross over and over adding fun to the hike. The Matumi bush camp has a hot water shower and flushing toilets. So rustic yet a comfortable resting place before one carries on the following morning. Loved the place and the staff who were willing to help at every turn. My best was knowing that with the radio they gave is we could access help at any time.

Really relaxed hiking trail with some very nice views. Not challenging but there are some steep climbs and ropes and chains to climb. It is worth it though for the views and the chance to swim in the various pools. The accommodation is basic but there is a generator and hot showers. Nice braai areas and a lapa for the rainy nights, The owners are really friendly and the roads can be handled by a sedan.
