Wonderful, airy space. Used to be an old tram station and then an electricity sub-station. Mindfully restored to become an art space. The Modern Identities Frida Amrita Irma exhibition is superb. Never thought I'd stand a meter away from Frida Kahlo's Self-Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird.

Excellent visit to JHB Contemporary Art Gallery last week. The building itself was very impressive and all staff were so well spoken and welcoming. Security very good. We thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour. Can highly recommend a visit.

A very well curated exhibition on three influential women artists from three different continents born in the same era. What a feat to get the first ever Frida Kahlo painting in Africa. Not to be missed!

I visited for the exhibition titled Kahlo, Sher-Gil, Stern: Modernist Identities in the Global South. The aims of the exhibition and its execution were well done. Having the art histriy offered to us and labelling the theme made the experience and engaging. The objectives are to to make the experience of visiting a gallery less sterile and more interactive and I think the aims were met and am excited to visit for future projects.
