Gangstar Cafe is a place of transformation and hope... which also sells a great cup of coffee. The baristas have incredible stories and the whole vibe is positive. It's a must visit for international visitors who want to experience good news stories. And it should be a regular hang out for all Cape Townians.

Nice little place. Feels a lot less warehouse-y than on my last visit, so that’s nice. The decor warms up the place. Staff are all super friendly and I always feel I tip here because I want to. Coffee is tasty and well-priced. They do Red drinks too. Had a chocolate filled croissant. I’ve had better, but it was decent. Having Main Street as a view is a different take for a café and actually makes for an interesting experience (the good kind). I’ll always come back if I’m in the area.

Had the pleasure of visiting Gangster Cafe with a close friend this weekend and I’ll definitely be going back ❤️ This is a really friendly coffee spot, with a great ethos and vision to help rehabilitate member of the community that were once incarcerated. The stuff is really friendly and efficient, I ordered their all day breakfast (R35) and it was great meal for a really good price. The coffee was absolutely phenomenal and they had a great assortment of small pastries as well. Overall, this place is looking at being my new local coffee spot - it provides value for money and a great space for learning and listening.

Previously worked with some of the ladies at another NGO where I was teaching them. It was absolutely lovely to see them alive and well and thriving. It's a great space with friendly staff.

The baristas are extremely friendly and eager to share their life stories. It's truly a coffee shop that is very interactive with the Mowbray community.

Love this place and the team that work there. The coffee smells wonderful - I don't drink hot drinks. But I can tell you their cheese and tomato toasties are yummy!
