Able to book classes online, or just show up and they will do their best to accommodate you.I definitely recommend them..

I really like it. The only thing I don't like is the classes that are in the middle of the gym. I understand that it could be a space issue but it would have been nice if the classes were in a seperated glass room. Staff are friendly

Terrible. Gym is always overcrowded and not enough equipment to cater for all members,i had to get there at 5am to get a decent workout.It seems like most people below give it a good review because it's clean which for me should be a given.In May 2019 the gym decided to close on Sundays, i was not informed and had to find out through a friend. Today i again found out through a friend that the gym will be closing at the end of the month (February) and all members will be moved to KC branch, no communication from Virgin.I had my doubts about joining them in the 1st place because my previous experience with them was bad in terms of their administration and accounts,but at the time it was the most convenient choice. I will not join Virgin active again in the future. For anybody looking for a good Gym at competitive rates try Sports science institute gym in Newlands, infinitely more professional.

Love this place. I was a bit weary at first, as red clubs are more basic than regular clubs. All the machines are new, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The classes are a little limited, but they do cover the basic. They do not have club v, but it might be on the cards in the future.

Became a member not too long ago. Great setup, clean, friendly staff, great air circulation etc.My only pain is that there is only 1 Smith machine and 1 squat rack that gets hogged by guys wanting to do bench presses....because the chest exercise area are machine only...so they improvise by using the squat rack for barbell chest exercises.Nothing wrong with that, but Virgin Red Maynard MUST get a dedicated squat area soon.Their own staff will mirror this lament. And it is valid coming from someone who's been to most Cape Town gyms over the last 20 years.PLEASE VIRGIN RED MAYNARD.PLEASE GET MORE SQUAT RACKS PLEASE!There are u used areas that could be equipped with more of these racks.Thanks for taking the time to read my review.RegardsF Arend

Always clean and the people that work's there are very helpful

Nice gym, have all equipment needed to reach your fitness goals. However the biggest problem is the noise, more especially the loud music played despite complaints by myself and fellow club members. Will get a five star rating once that issue is sorted.

Virgin Active Red is a great gym: it has functional equipment, nice air circulation throughout the gym - but during peak hours the air tends to get stale.They offer a host of classes, but the evening classes are the ones that matter. Classes that happen in The Grid are sporadic and sometimes you have to ask the trainers if there will be classes, but this is not the case in the evenings; classes are fixed! Personal trainers are there for private or group sessions but you could also ask the trainers for help.For the facilities, pricing and this gym's location, they could have easily gotten five stars. However, they haven't because their customer service sucks! Had an incident at the gym and I was not happy with the way they resolved it.Star breakdown:1. Malcolm - the spin instructor2. Staff members - Ricardo, he's my favourite, Zane, Zoe, Craig, Y, Kevin, etc.3. Facility and overall experience

You book classes using the app then you show up for workouts and the trainer is on leave or unavailable and its unknown until when but they repeatedly show those classes as available on the app. It's a great inconvenience juggling things around to make time before or after work to attend classes that are not going to happen, this happens a lot and I wish they could do better. You make a complaint and they are lackadaisical about it.

Excellent equipment and other facilities. However satff there are uneducated and a very basic knowledge on fittness and are hardly seen on the gym floor, come across as uninterested and are only seen if they need to complain about something, not really helping anyone.
