I'm sharing my 25 year experience with my hotart firepot: fantastic heat in winter, no smell, consumes less wood than any other fireplace, burns longer, diffuses heat throughout a large lounge/ open plan kitchen-lounge 35x45m; burns wood into ash-no waste of firewood, retains heat for hours after coals have finally died down. No cleaning needed!!! I cleaned mine once a year, after the winter. It basically means collecting the ash from the bottom of the pot, up to the layer of sand which one puts in at the start before use. My sandlayer lasted for the whole duration.I sadly had to say goodbye to my beautiful winter-buddy when I sold my house in 2019, to downscale to single status living.Thank you, Leslie-Ann, for such a wonderfully effective work of art!
