My wife and I stayed at Three Tree Hill last month and had an exceptional time! The owners have created a one-of-a-kind experience for their guests. From the period decor to the historic memorabilia that hangs on the walls in the lounge area, nothing has been overlooked! Service was excellent. Food outstanding and the team went out of their way to accommodate us! Will definitely return soon!

Incredible farm setting, great views, Burchell cottage was top notch, Melanie was an incredible host, perfect for families/kids... and THE FOOD! Best food we've ever had at a lodge. Plus, a perfect location to explore the various regions of the Drakensberg. Really had an amazing stay. Our only complaint was the overwhelming white-male-colonizer-war decor. Walls and walls and placemats full of white men fighting. Sure, we can learn from war history – but there was zero representation of the women and native (black) Africans the war affected too. Just glorifying the two white countries that stole the land then fought each other over it (even a photo of a colonizer's tombstone above the toilet!). It's 2022 and the world has changed a lot, so maybe it's time to tone down the colonialism history...

Amazing hospitality and the food was beyond expectations. Well done Cheryl. Your tour Guide Anthony is super interested in Spionkop and the history of both Boer and British. Dinner in your lovely wine cellar was the pinnacle moment.

A thoroughly enjoyable stay at an exceptional lodge. What to expect: Beautifully rural and relaxing settings. Friendly and helpful staff. A very homely atmosphere. Great food with locally sourced ingredients. A very well stocked bar and impressive wine list.On top of all of that, there were some really nice personal touches that just demonstrated the lodge goes that extra step to provide a unique experience.

What a fabulous four-day stay at Three Tree Hill Lodge. The charmingly presented villas, exquisite sitting room, stunning library and cellar all provided a peaceful haven set against the most extraordinary landscape. The meals and afternoon tea were delicious, the wine and gin lists were mind-blowing and the service was impeccable. The tours of the Battle of Spioenkop with Pierre and Battle of Colenso with Simon were fun, informative and entertaining.A tour of the village and a visit to the preschool and primary school with Cheryl were absolute eye-openers. We learned, loved and appreciated every minute of it.Jenny and Michael

We absolutely LOVED our time here! Its a magical place; from the settings to the area to the people we met here. We used it as a base from which to explore the Amphitheatre part of the Drakensburg which is an easy drive from the lodge. We stayed in the spectacular Burchells self catering cottage and just loved the spacs, with views across the woodlands and jackals calling through the night. Highly recommend this place
