Beautiful experience. Lovely architecture to look at while enjoying a cold drink by the bar listening to African Jazz. An experience every South African should enjoy. Brilliant performance of the play. Well done to the actors. Will be back for more

I was only there briefly to watch a performance. But being a performance and visual artist, I felt so inspired to create by witnessing the performance as well as all the photographs of iconic productions past.The location is the only let down as it is in an area that has a reputation of not being safe. But once you're inside that's not a concern, because the artistic atmosphere takes over.Looking forward to going there more.

Market Theatre
We went for.a teacher's meeting and were then given complimentary tickets to watch The Mahotella Queens and the African Jazz Band. Fabulous music and tremendously joyful vibe. The audience was on its feet both singing along and appreciating the talents of all the musicians who were performing. Thank you for a tremendous evening. Now if we can just get opportunities for students from schools outside Jozi and provinces other than Gauteng to participate in the mentorship programs, the world will be a lovelier place still.

It's always a pleasure visiting the market theater. It's a great place to unwind and de-stress after a long day.The staff are always so nice.I came a bit early and I couldn't stand outside waiting for my friends to arrive. They were so kind to let me in and wait inside away from the cold.When my friends came, we were taking photos and acting all crazy.The Market theater staff that were close by were more than happy to join us in the craziness and take pics with and of us.It was so much fun.The show was amazing. We watched I AM WOMAN. Wow.

Revamped since I was last there (a while back!). This theatre is filled with nostalgia and atmosphere. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Bar drinks are overpriced. We saw The Parrot Woman"

It was my first time at the Market Theatre and it was really more than I expected! Stunning, well kept and really friendly stuff. If I was living in Joburg I would definitely make it a regular to go there because the space has that effect to invite you back despite the amazing shows playing there (we watched The Brother Size) and were blown away!
