Sequoia Garden Retreat
What an absolutely beautiful piece of nature. We woke up to a breathtaking misty forest on our doorstep that swept through all of the lush green gardens. Birding, walks through the gardens and secluded picnic spots allowed us to relax and have a lovely time away.

Sequoia Garden Retreat
Last night we escaped to the wonderful Sequoia Garden Retreat and the very delightful Meadow Cottage. This stone walled little house overlooks a dam with a spectacular forest and colorful shrubs as the backdrop. The beams from the afternoon sun coming through the large glass wall makes the whole room glow. It was so relaxing to take a walk through the forest, exploring trees that are well marked and coming back to the cottage to listen to a frog musical, a fish eagle and more. It is stylish, fresh, clean and private and a perfect escape for a romantic getaway. As it is self-catering and far from the closest shopping, you need to plan your stay and shopping well ahead. We left in the mist feeling absolutely reinvigorated

Sequoia Garden Retreat
Just alongside cheerio gardens but the less commercial and more soulful of the two. From the honesty box for your R20 visiting contributions, which gets you a bottle of branded water and garden map, to the obvious love that is being invested in restoring this garden by its passionate new owners, visit both gardens, but bring a picnic along to Sequoia and while away some quiet time in this beautiful Eden.

Sequoia Garden Retreat
Amazing beyond what I could have imagined. The silence is intense, coming from the city, but if you listen, you'll notice that nature is buzzing, too. Meadow Cottage is delightful - perfect for a couple. Nicola was super helpful, as were Alf and Carol at Cheerio Farm, where we spent the day cycling. Take someone you like a lot, take bicycles or walking shoes, and go and get lost in the magic of these forests where time has made giant trees and humans have put names on them. This is an enchanted place with a lifetime's exploring to do - a must if you like gardens, nature and wandering about.

It is for free with a honesty box. No booking necessary. It is beautifully kept up. Tranquil. Worthy to visit. There is also accommodation available.

Sequoia Garden Retreat
We stayed in The Croft Cottage for 2 nights. The cottage is perfectly equipped with everything you could need and the fireplace made it perfect to spend 2 rainy days in. The surrounds are otherworldly and transports you to a fairytale land, we loved taking walks and exploring the beauty. We will definitely be back!

An absolute fairy tale! Our family had an amazing stay at the Meadow Cottage- our boys of 4 & 6 loved roaming around, fishing and canoeing (provided for free) Very welcoming owners- that put their whole heart in the place, and you can feel that. Thank you, dankie- we will be back!

Sequoia Garden Retreat
Of the 2 cottages we booked, The Meadow one was by far superior. We felt a little short changed considering the price difference between the rooms and decided to all squat in the one room rather than utilize the other cottage.The property is beautiful, and if you book the meadow cottage, you are sure to have an incredibly relaxing time.
