This place is a little gem in PE. The rooms are very clean and only slightly dated. The bar/lounge if beautiful with great views of Kings beach. The attached restaurant have a huge deck with equally great views. The beds are a little small and a little firm for my liking, but over all not bad. For a king bed, they push together two single beds. Every room has a safe. I never used the TV, so I cannot review that. The maid and laundry service are very good. The food at the restaurant is good, but get to the buffet early or they will run out of food. Their menu is small, but has a good variety. It was all good. The bar has a good selection and the bar staff are very friendly and will keep your drink refilled if wanted.Overall, what you get for the price here is very, very good.

A bad experience staying here. First meal was a toasted cheese sandwich for lunch. The lettuce in the salad was rotting!! It was discolored and mushy already. The tomato was limp and old. The cheese was cold and not even melted. I asked for the chef who was reluctant to come out if the kitchen for 30 minutes. Eventually he appeared with the hotel manager and a learner cook. They all apologized but the lunch remained inedible. The breakfast the next morning was almost as bad. The bacon was rigid it had been re-heated so much. Probably a few days old and made available a couple of times. Same with the (minute) sausages. They were so rigid and dark from reheating that it was very difficult to get a fork into them. The pile of blackened mushrooms was tasteless and very dicey. Shocking. The next breakfast was presentable. The breakfasts were not cheap either. The hotel was not very full. The hotel looks very tired" and worn out. The carpets are old and smelly. The walls are dull and dirty. The dining room is sticky and poorly ventilated - and I am sure quite unhealthy. The paint is peeling off the roof.By day 2 I had diahorea! Was it from the food- I dont really know

It's a beautiful vintage kind of a hotel. It's a good place to relax and recharge.

Let's start with the location. Love love, love the fact that it's close to the beach, the view is amazing! You can even take a morning or evening walk on the promenade. The rooms are okay, comfortable, and clean, nothing fancy. They do have a tea/coffee station in the room and a hair dryer for the ladies. You can request an iron which the friendly staff will bring to your room. The staff are always willing to assist. The standout for me was the breakfast. Their breakfast is delicious, always freshly prepared, and I love the setup.

I was invited by a friend for breakfast who had a voucher and this was the worst service l have experienced in a hotel. No one was there to assist, didn't know if it was a self service or not. The Chef wasn't friendly she just scrambled my eggs and gave me a plate. I had to look for coffee station myself whilst all the staff are busy chatting. Training needs to be implemented otherwise Port Elizabeth is small and this will affect the business.

NICE room. However. We booked THREE ROOMS and one room for my mom-in-law was in a section that reaked of old cigarette smoke. We travelled very far and wanted to drink something on Christmas day, however we were told that they can not serve us drinks, whilst there were other people drinking drinks on the deck at the restaurant on two occasions. We had to wait till 18:30 to eat and get drinks. Our waitress was friendly and helpful.
