Virgin Active Gym Dainfern

I've never came across such horrible people at a gym before. I want to sign up at VA so I decided to check out the Dainfern gym and decide between that or another in the area. I was asked to fill in my details which I did, I chatted to a consultant to explain the situation, we agreed that I would check out the facility to see if I'm happy. After using the gym, I told Precious at reception that I'm still not 100% sure and that I would decide by tomorrow (before month end in order to still get the current promo). Her response, with an extremely rude facial expression, was that the consultant said that if I didn't sign up then I have to pay the day rate of R335! I've never seen that magnitude of greed in my life. When I entered, there was no mention of a day rate, they were happy to let me look see. This practice is extremely unethical. They have made my decision to join a different gym very very easy. I'm not sure that I should join Virgin Active at all.Additionally, I entered with an existing member.

Always clean, always on. Sauna works during load shedding. Friendly staff. Awesome outdoor balcony to train on. A geat place to train!

One of the best experiences I have had at a Virgin Gym in South Africa. Friendly staff at reception. The circuit is fantastic, I miss it at my home gym. The swimming pool was a joy. Changing facilities clean and inviting.

I love the views from this gym, and it's convenient location. I also like the fact that there are 2 private change cubicles in the ladies change rooms. Some great Pilates and Yoga instructors here.

Review change from 5 to a 0 if I could. Mismanagement of the gym floor, there is no etiquette amongst the younger kids who train there, the hygiene is seriously lacking as of late, and this drop in care for the club can be seen in it’s attendance. I myself will drive to cedar virgin from now on who have just revamped their club.

This is suppose to be a gym in one of the most pretentious area's. Training there on and off week and at Sunninghill. After complaining so many times to the Staff. The amount of equipment compared to Sunninghill gym is shocking. All the riches of the rich in the area train at Dainfern, but like Sunninghill that can accommodate more than one popular machine - Dainfern is lacking the lay-out and extra double machines needed to cater in the most busiest time slots for the amount of clientele. I am shocked that nothing has been done and simple things like shoulder cushions to support machines (the valcro does not even stick on anymore) Should we as gym member go and buy you some ? It is a small cost for your gym clientele to make this gym cater for it's upmarket clientele. Such a stunning gym, but the lack of machines and equipment not in good standard or even air runners ? Really this cannot be tolerated any longer. When last has head office visited this gym? As for Sunninghill, you know who the club manager is, she is always on the floor. Making sure and let members know if their is certain machines that will be upgraded or if maintenance being worked on. Walking her floor all the time, greeting clientele. Where is the Club Manager of DAINFERN? Who is this person? Take a few tips from your Sunninghill Manager, not that I even know her. But I do train at both gyms. Am always shocked at the comparison. I cannot keep quiet any longer. Hope to see a change soon, Dainfern has the potential and they have the friendly staff. The manager and Head office or whoever is in charge is letting the customer and staff down.

The treadmills look a bit old now, 2 to 3 out of order as well. Overall a nice gym, I'm still exploring everything else.

A well equipped gym with a phenomenal view from the outdoor terrace and great amenities, including a sauna, steam room, lap pool, and exercise classes on offer. Personal trainers and a physiotherapist can be booked here too. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the cleanliness of the gym is outstanding with the staff cleaning the equipment with attention to detail I’ve never seen at a gym before. Highly recommend signing up for a membership here or coming by if you’re in the area.
