Elands Bay Cave
The cave is very close to the parking area and access up a few cement and rock steps is very easy. The condition of the rock paintings is relatively good considering the easy access and high visitor traffic.

Purely amazing place. First it looks like a post-apocalyptic scenery, broken down buildings, barely a way to get up there. But once you get there, the pictures on the walls are mesmerizing. Sadly they are unsheltered and you can already see places where water seemed to push through the stone. It´s a shame and I can only advise you to get there and see it yourself while its still there.

One of the most interesting places I've ever visited. To see the art in situ and imagine what life must have been like was the highlight of my west coast trip. I fear this will be lost though as it is not properly protected.

What a shame that this facility is in a total mess. No signs, no decent hand rails. This is part of our country's heritage!!

The cave still has the paintings from the bushmen era. The route to cave is a 5 minute hike but it's worth the effort. Though the access to the cave looks dodge, the view from the cave is stunning. The white beach just outside the cave is at a 2 minute drive and has a very clean and beautiful beach with absolutely no one around you. Avoid going alone as the surroundings are a bit dodge. Also, the shorter route from Lambert's bay is now owned by Transnet and there is a guard who stands at the gate asking for bribe if you want to pass through. So plan the route accordingly.

Pity about the idiots who have also put their names on the cave walls. The view from there is stunning. Just a short climb up.
