Virgin Active Gym Potchefstroom

I recently became a member at Virgin Active Gym and while there are some positives, there are a few aspects that left me disappointed. Let's start with the cancellation fee. Unfortunately, the gym does not clearly indicate this fee during the sign-up process, which was quite frustrating for me. It would be helpful if they were more transparent about the cancellation policy.Another point of contention for me is the price. As a gym located right next to a university, I expected the prices to be more student-friendly. However, I found the membership fees to be quite expensive, especially considering the amenities provided. It's disheartening to pay a substantial amount but not have access to a generator, especially during power outages. It can be quite inconvenient and disruptive to one's workout routine.On the positive side, I must commend the gym for having friendly and helpful staff. They are always ready to assist and answer any questions I have, which creates a welcoming environment. Additionally, the gym boasts a wide variety of quality equipment, allowing for a comprehensive workout experience. I also enjoyed the excellent workout classes offered, which added value to my membership.Overall, while Virgin Active Gym has its merits, the lack of clarity regarding the cancellation fee, high prices, and the absence of a generator make it fall short of my expectations. If you're a student on a tight budget, you may find better value at the university gym. However, if you prioritize friendly staff, good equipment, and a variety of workout classes, this gym might still be worth considering.

They don't even have generator. They only use emergency light even emergency light is not working often. I lost my phone and tablet inside changing room. My lock was cutted from someone and they are all stolen But Manager and submanager(Michael) don't care. My golden time is stolen from their manager. I could find robber from their Cctv. But they just deny.

I was given an promotion 3 months free. And told j can ouse my account when im away from potch.Sept- freeNov freeDec free.I noticed the debited dec. Only then i was told i need to visit the gym at least 4 times for the month to be free. Never in the sign up. Did not even get a physical contract from virgin active.I called to have my account freezed as I will only be back in potch by end feb. And they still refuse to fix their wrongfully debit.This will be reported as fraud. Your sales consultant who apparently does not work there anymore has created trouble for you.Highly disgusted in a supposedly well established gym/fitness centre.

Terrible gym. Equipment is broken for months without repair. Only one hamstring machine, other 2 are broken. Only one rope for a gym with hundreds of members. Cable machines don’t run smoothly. Not enough handles for the cable machines either. Would not recommend, rather join planet fitness

This is the best place to be for fitness. The challenge is just that there is no backup generator to help during loadshadding. Most of the equipment doesn't work.

Just joined but now I wanna cancel after seeing all the reviews about the cancellation issues. Sounds terrible. Just joined 22nd June but think I should just cancel before I start the whole thing

The gym is ok....well maintained and the staff is super helpful. It mainly services a student clientele so it has a lively vibe. The group classes schedule is a bit on the dull side though....absolutely no kick classes. Just be aware there is no backup power during load shedding. If you are ok with that, then you will love the club.

Can someone please explain to me the concept of a transfer fee from one virgin active to another? I just want to know what was so immensely grueling of such a mundane request to justify charging people money for that. Absolutely absurd.

Predatory business might be the right term for this gym. There are hidden fees and clauses, which come as a shock to you later on because they don't tell you any of that when you sign up. Here is a list of things you should check with them before signing anything with them:1. How long is my contract? How much is the cancellation fee? Is there a notice period?2. How does freezing my membership for a month work if I want to travel? What is the day of the month before which I need to inform you?3. What are my hours? Can I come any time during the open hours of the gym? Am I paying extra for specific hours?4. If they are giving you some discount or free months - be super careful about the terms, and ask as many things as you might think of, otherwise, you might end up paying way more than normal because of being tricked" in the so-called discount.5.
