Nelson Mandela Museum Mathatha
This morning some colleagues and I decided to treat ourselves after a laborious week. We were not ready. This place is packed full of history, well presented and well curated. I'm really impressed that they make the effort to revamp add rejuvenate the museum every now and then. There are so many good features about this museum. We could have easily spent over 4 hours in the museum. Be prepared to read a lot though. Like his book, A long walk to freedom"

Educational. However we went when they were still closed so we didn't have much access to all the rooms... But they still let us in which was great.

I used to give here every day after school over 15 years ago. I must say, it was quite a lovely experience to bring my own kids and see that so much work has been done in developing the rich history this place holds. Overall the place is well maintained and neat. The collections are well preserved and the presentation of information is captivating.

It was not part of the plan; we were on our way to Durban and for some reason we decided to off-ramp to check out the place as it is not too far from the freeway. The museum was closed for renovations, however, there was some event happening as it was a public holiday, Youth Day to be specific.There's a lot of history to learn along the 'long walk' to the sculpture of Nelson Mandela. It's a great place and I will definitely visit again when the museum is open.

We came by Mtatha on our way from Drakensberg to the Wild Coast and saw there was this museum and we had to stop by. We could have spent hours there, so interesting to learn more about Nelson Mandela and see pictures, videos and documents etc. If you are in the area I would recommend to make a stop.

Beautiful grounds in Qunu! Some exhibition pieces are temporarily displayed in Mthatha's Nelson Mandela museum as oppossed to the museum in Qunu. It is being renovated.
