Absolutely beautiful. If you walk quiet enough you might spot the Knysna Loerie, we did twice (not close enough for a photo, but absolutely breathtaking!)

Brownhooded Kingfisher Trail
Very nice route, doable with kids, good exercise, sometimes there are wild gooseberries, beautiful valley with high cliffs both sides.Cons: a bit tricky and slippery in places, could do with some extra signage along the way with distances and location, a bigger picnic area at the end would be nice, no bins, few tree labels or information boards about the fauna or flora

Definitely a 'jewel in the Wilderness'After you have got your permit from the Ebb & Flow camp in the Wilderness National Park, proceed to the start opposite the purification plant alongside the rail/ road bridge. This is not any old forest hike, the wooden bridges and steps lure you deeper into the forest. When descending to the river, be on the lookout for fish in the clear water. The river is crossed by means of stepping stones or pontoon. Now follow the path along the eastern bank of the Touw River to the boardwalk, which affords hikers beautiful viewpoints onto the river and surrounds. Due to its wondrous beauty, this world class boardwalk must be traversed. The waterfall offers gorgeous pools for dipping, and taking a picnic basket is a good idea. The total distance is 7.2km and takes 3-4 hours. Another equally beautiful option is hiring a canoe from Eden Adventures, in the Ebb & Flow South rest camp, and rowing to a point where the river becomes a narrow, shallow stream. Views are unsurpassed - the water is crystal clear and the trees add to the general feeling of tranquillity. Leave your canoe on the banks of the river and follow the path to the boardwalk. There are also numerous picnic spots to stop over next to the river. Forgetting your camera will be almost unforgivable.#kingfishertrail #forest #waterfall #feedyoursoul #sedgefield #gardenroute #george #knysna #wilderness #cityofgeorge #mosaicmarket #hiking #familyfun #supportlocal #canoe #adventure #it’stheplacetobe #bliss #pixiebutts

A real hidden gem. And a must see if you are a nature lover! A not too strenuous walk of about 1.6km up to the spectacular little waterfall is well worth it. Find a rock and have a picnic. You can go about 400m further up the hill to the most breathtaking view over the indigenous forest and river below, but be warned - it is a really steep climb up there, a relatively well-defined level of fitness will get you up there eventually. If you can muster this, it is worth it! The trail is short, but not short on scenery. Highly recommended!

A beautiful, quirky and well maintained trail. An abundance trickling streams, bridges, steps and just the most amazing flora. The kind of trail you spend hours on because of the views alone

Brownhooded Kingfisher Trail
Trail very clean and easy to walk. Would definitely bring along friends and family not used to hiking. The end is not well marked or indicated. But overall the nature is a nice breathe of fresh air! Small waterfall later in the path

Brownhooded Kingfisher Trail
Lovely walk for a family to do with a waterfall at the end! I've done the route a few times (both walking and running) and I absolutely love it! Surrounded by green and with the sound of the river always close by, it's a much needed break from the buzz of busy lives. Highly recommend!

Absolutely loved this short and easy hike. Very well maintained with lovely river crossings. The waterfall wasn't the best but the whole trail felt like an adventure. Will definitely come back to run this on tye regular.

Enjoyed 3.3kms walking this beautiful trail... There are some steep downhills and small kids might get tired quickly. Recommended for everyone ages 10 and up.
