Outside the National Assembly are security barriers for screening MP's and visitors to Parliament before entering the National Assembly Chambers.

A historical Neoclassical Cape Dutch architecture with so much history. Nestled in the iconic Company Gardens adjacent to the robust, bustling and revered City Centre.

he original parliament building was designed in a Neoclassical style, incorporating features of Cape Dutch architecture. The later additions have been so designed as to blend with the original building. The Houses of Parliament have been declared a National Heritage Site by the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA) and given grade 1 national heritage status, the highest grade set by SAHRA.Courtesy : wiki.

We did a tour of parliament. The guide was very good and informative. The place has so much history, very interesting. Tours can be arranged by calling into the tours Office of parliament.

Try to arrange a tour if you have time. They don't seem too well set up for tourists, but everyone is really nice and willing to help.

I don't mean to be pessimistic but I must be realistic. This government has failed the people of this country miserably and one cannot but ponder how they remain elected to continuously rob the taxpayer's money and their electorate of their future.Wake up South Africa we cannot continue voting for any one party, no matter who they are, for more than 1 or 2 terms period! If they fail to deliver, then vote for someone else, it doesn't matter who. But punishing the ANC by not voting at all is not a solution as it doesn't punish them. The way you punish a politician is by using your power to vote elsewhere. When they release their jobs are on the line they start doing miracles like actually working for you.The same principle applies when you run a business if one of your staff members isn't working but you don't do anything about it and they just keep on getting paid and you continuously approve this they will just continue the way they have been since you first hired them. The ANC is our employee, they work for us, and the only way to show them that you are unhappy with their job is to use your power to vote for another party. But we all already know this in our heads, the problem with us, South Africans, is that we vote with our hearts and emotions and not with our brains.

Had a great experience walking around the parliamentary precinct. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times. Meals served in the restaurant were beautifully presented and tasteful. View of the mountain from restaurant completes a good day.

Barbed wire looks worse than my toilet bowl after a chicken tikka from obs main road. Really think they can do a better job at cleaning up the mess from the fire. Horrible to look at.
