Battery Centre Empangeni

Last week I posted my review about an experience at Battery Center Empangeni regarding the unsatisfactory service received. After waiting for my battery (which I did not need anyway because I had bought another one from elsewhere) for 5 full days, I got a call to come collect my battery. I went there today and found another gentleman who's name I could not find. I explained I was here to collect my battery and rightfully asked for my receipt to which I said I do not have. Not far from there there was a gentleman called Mr Nel, who then asked for my name and when I told him, he seem to remember my story (I am not sure). He then asked me when did I buy the original battery. When I told him it was only in May and then narrated the sequence of events and experience, he did not blink but said please try and get the receipt or alternatively get your bank statement that shows the transaction. I went for my phone and retrieved the transaction clearly marked battery center empangeni and reference. Even though he battled to find the correlating proof on the system

The place has highly knowledgeable personnel but their reception needs serious improvement. The posture and tone makes one feel unwanted as if you have come to trouble the lady and the gentleman. Otherwise they warmed up later and did good work on the car.

Great service, and guarantees. Always use them, no problem. Only gripe, they change your battery outside the shop in the car park thats grass and gravel, a bit un professional, not a big deal but inconvenient when its raining.

Very helpful and customer 1st service. When I arrived, I came ready to spend money on a new battery, and it turned out that the one I had was fine. So Lawrence saved me money. I recommend it.

Brought my car to have the battery checked in April and was advised that i needed a new battery as mine was done. I did. Yesterday my car couldn't start, took it to the mechanic, did all the checks and said it was a battery. He recommended that he comes with me as he has had issues with some battery Centre staff before.To cut the long story short, when I explained that I bought the battery last month and it's already giving me problems, the guy jumped into a defense mode blaming everything from, alternator, tracker, even said it was a starter. Good thing my mechanic was there who proved him to be dishonest in all his answers. Eventually we insisted on seeing the manager. It was older gentlemen who came and did the checks himself and within seconds he said the battery was packed up and instructed the guy to get a new battery which we appreciated.They then disappeared for few minutes and came back saying they didn't have any in stock. I must take my old battery (which could not start the car without being boosted) they will call me once they got it. I asked what do i do in the meantime because i use my car for work. His answer was sorry blame it on covid. Disappointed, I was boosted and drove off. I went to GANS and got the battery, spent another R1200 as I could not leave the other one. I then phoned and said I have bought the battery, can they refund my money and keep their battery. The lady I spoke to on the phone said that wont happen as the battery is under warranty and they must send it back to the factor. I said but what about me...you sold me a faulty battery, you cannot replace it and say I must wait until you find it and do not know when you will even after I said that I use my car for work.I still don't understand why they refuse to refund me as it is not my fault that they sold me a faulty battery and they are the ones without stock..and they cannot confirm how long I must wait. I got the battery myself elsewhere. I was very disappointed by the total experience and the attitude of their technician that did not want to accept responsibility. For a reputable company like that it was total and dismal failure and terrible client experience.
