Shoprite Newlands (Johannesburg)

If I could give 0 stars I would. Accidentally went in with a chocolate in my school blazer. didn't buy anything due to long queues and when I was walking out a security guard decided to search me. 1. Without my consent.She saw the chocolate and then I couldn't leave .The more I tried to explain that it was in my blazer the whole day already the more they didn't listen. When she took it out of my pocket it was already melting(after being in a blazer the whole day{7:30-4:30})I was taken to the staff only section , downstairs and not to the manager's office.the more I told them to check the cameras to see that I only went to one aisle(for a lock) and then immediately walked out because of long queues, the more they didn't listen. It took my mother arguing upstairs to allow them to let me walk away. I have never been to a shop where I was searched without my consent and then blatantly ignored. I wish that I had never stopped at this shop. After my mother fought with them that they could see that the chocolate was already almost completely melted they let me come upstairs". The apology was also one where it was insensitive and quite disrespectful. I was told "sorry for the misunderstanding but you didn't scan it" but after a long day of school I didn't think about the chocolate. The best part of it all was that as soon as I went downstairs another security guard told me "you see you made nonsense for yourself" ? They immediately assumed I was a thief and then would not even listen to me. I still don't know if they checked the cameras but anyway. Only go to this shop if you're okay with being searched without consent and then being taken to a room similar to a dungeon."

In walking distance. Not crowded during the week.

I don't like crowded places, and any Shoprite is always full. Also, it's not the cleanest place

Worst Assistant Managers and security.Myself and my family will never put our foot there again.Assistant managers are incompetent, both of them.. Dont care about the well being of custoners. No empathy or understanding towards their elderly clients. Disgusting power flexing behaviour...

Worst service ever ..... How can cashier and supervisors help everyone on the queue then when is my turn to pay 1 item they closed the Till... I had to go back and start another queue..... Not even apology or to talk to me they just let me stand there..... So bad.

Why are there always long lines and only 2 or if lucky 3 cashiers available.Not impress with their specials availability either,why advertise and the advertised items always out of stock.Its located on a convenient route however this Shoprite services not consumer friendly for such a big community.

They dirty and unhealthy, selling old food most of the time. There service is very much poor they stand and chat like old people that are scandalous and not worried about clients
