We recently built a large house in Cape Town (830 sq.m) and decided on aluminium for all outer doors, sliding systems and windows. Tenders were sent to ten companies, Grecoline being the only foreign contractor among them. Four local manufacturers quoted more expensive than Grecoline, one of those a Cape Town company! This is astonishing, if one keeps in mind that Grecoline's products are wholly manufactured in Greece, and international shipping costs are therefore part of any Grecoline quotation. Notwithstanding this additional cost, Grecoline's quotation was still 23% lower than the most expensive quote received from a Cape Town based company. A quality comparison between South African manufacturers and the products from Grecoline, not only revealed the vast discrepancy in workmanship and design, but also highlighted the superior manufacturing standard found in the Grecoline range of aluminium doors and window frames. The SA manufacturers all quoted on standard, single glass windows and doors, with thin frames. Grecoline's quotation was based on European standards, namely double glazed, sound-proof and double thermo-isolated construction. The security aspects of the Grecoline doors and windows are also at a different level compared to the South African products. The visual difference between the local products and the Grecoline products alone is quite obvious, and after four years of use, we can attest to the success of how the installed windows and doors in our house keep the temperamental Cape weather at bay. A cool house in summer, and a warm and cosy home during cold, rainy winter days. And totally soundproof, which is a necessity for a good night's rest!There is no doubt that I will not even ask for tenders on aluminium frames next time we build, I will simply send a spec-sheet to Grecoline. A superior European product line, at a price that is surprisingly competitive with anything found locally.Thank you to everyone at Grecoline, our house is a pleasure to live in, largely due to your beautiful and very effective windows and sliding doors!
