Very nice and informative museum and gallery. The replica ship looked good and you can get on board and imagine how the sailors travelled all the way there. Recommended.

This was an enjoyable experience with my wife and 3.5yr old son. You get to go onto the Tug Boat and explore a little. They have a few props setup inside the rooms. You can also climb down into the engine room. Then there is the little museum which had a few model ships that have incredible detail, as well as other items that were used by sailors. The place is a bit small though, but hey for R10 it's well worth it. Great for a 1 time visit, there's not much to see so I wouldn't go back again unless I'm taking family or friends for a visit.

Simon’s Town Navy museum is easy to miss despite the large billboard advertising its presence. The reason is that there’s a discreet entrance and limited parking which means you will probably drive past it before you’re aware. The navy base will redirect you and you will park along the road and enter the museum through a pedestrian gate.Once you’re in though, you’re in for a treat as this is an amazing maritime museum that follows South African exploits in World War I and II.It’s also filled with war kit like torpedoes, helicopter, several ship guns, model ships, and – wait for it – a chapel. There was a lot of thought put into a number of the displays and it’s logically well-organised. It doesn’t hide the ugliness of war, and naval warfare in particular, but it’s brilliant.Shoutout to Officer Precious for her excellent guidance and help in the museum.Entrance is free, there’s a guestbook and you can buy original navy epaulettes. They close at 15:00

I was heartbroken and so upset to see that they have not bothered to do any maintenance on the ships, the one half of a ship is completely submerged and the they will never get that back. The rest was very educational

This place is such a rich source of history. It can be better maintained. No tour guides to show you around and no card fascilities to pay for entrance. The water in the harbour was full of litter. This place has potential to be a great tourist spot.

Very clean venue that could use a bit of TLC. For R10/Adult and R5/Child over 6yo it isn't a bad outing...

There is some renovations going on around the museum area and the sign of the gate said staff only so it was a bit confusing. Fortunately a security guard gave us guidance. There is parking very close to the museum plus a few restaurantsThe museum cost was r30 pp . It's a small museum with some maritime history of South Africa as well as replica ship which is no doubt the main attraction. You allowed to board the wooden shipThere are also a few other attractions on the grounds, post office tree and boot , old cottages, fountain and some nice views of the beachIt's something worth doing if you in the area

I loved looking at the history and the ship itself. You are allowed to get on the ship and go below deck which is really cool. Sadly there was two small boys running around and jumping on the beds which is specifically asked not to do. This is not only bothersome but could lead to some damage. Some rules might be needed for supervision.I would definitely recommend, it is quite informative!
