Kushiyaki restaurant

I visited the Three Wise Monkeys on date night, 1 June 2023. We were seated immediately as I was aware that they don't take reservations. The place was buzzing, and I was quite excited to try them as this was highly recommend on social media and I read some of the reviews. So, first things first, drinks. I decided to try the Rose, they only have two choices, then disappointment set in, the one I wanted they did not have in stock, so I had no choice but to go for the more expensive option. So, a tip ... if you not going to give me a choice of drink, please fill my glass to the brim and not just pour a regular glass. Then we wanted some juice... no juice. OK, no problem, still excited to be here. We decided to have some starters, crispy tofu and salt and pepper squid. The tofu was delicious, the squid was chewy but was delicately seasoned, so the flavour was delightful but yes, the fact that it was chewy took away from the enjoyment of the meal. But we forge ahead, still positive. At this point we were told that they don't have the chicken and leek yakitori in stock, which is what I wanted. But moving on, hubby knew he wanted the ramen and decided to try the duck and I asked the waiter what he recommends for the buns option. He recommended the buttermilk chicken bun. So, the duck was a hit and miss for us, the broth was amazing (I need to find the recipe) but the duck itself was a miss. It was not tasty at all; it was chewy and dull and added nothing to the dish. The chicken on the bun was crispy and tasty, the mayo was delectable, but the bun needed some spice, something to set the tongue ablaze, I missed that part. Again, we decided to continue onto dessert, the menu has three options, however only one was available, so we tried the only option of matcha salt custard bun, of which we received three, I tried one, and that was it. Total miss, the entire dish lacked texture and flavour. Not sure if I would give this spot another try, there were too many examples of things not in stock (like juice, my favourite rose, chicken yakitori, dessert options). And the overall experience was merely OK, not amazing, not awesome, not mind-blowing, not exiting) just OK.

This is a perfect spot for lunch. I got the Chicken Ramen and it was excellent. The food is affordable, the staff is friendly and it's Halaal. It was an overall 10/10 customer experience. I highly recommend it.

This place is a gem! We arrived to an almost packed venue but we’re fortunate enough to get a seat at the window overlooking the street. They don’t take bookings and it gets busy. The staff are friendly and the service is good. The beef fillet and brisket ramens are delicious! The portions are generous.

A very cute and cosy place. Food is great as well. But the overall size of the place is quite small. It feels a bit cramped inside. Which is not too bad for cold winter evenings. Always packed so expect waiting time. Have a few drinks at the place next door while waiting ;) The inside gets quite hot and steamy and your clothes will smell like spice unfortunately.

It was all that I expect and more. We ordered the boa buns. It was so fresh and tasted so good. It was light and fluffy like you were eating a cloud. We tried the two types and both were great. We had the duck Ramen it was to die for the broth was making the veggies inside were great, duck was slightly over done but the meal was overall amazing. We tried the sushi donut on the menu. It tasted so fresh and yummy. Will be having it again. For dessert we had a salted caramel and matcha boa bun, not the best but tasted good. It would be nice to see other Japanese dessert to make the menu and place even greater. The service was okay. There was only one sever so it took a while to get attention when needed but the food came out quite quick which was nice. Loved the decor and Dragan Ball Z mural on the wallDefinite recommendation and will definitely return

We had a packed and pleasant experience at Three Wise Monkeys. We got there ahead of the crowds at around 6pm and ordered a very tasty sushi dish and then straight on to the Beef Brisket Ramen. The Ramen differs from what we know and tasted in Japan mostly in the style of ingredients and there is not a miso/shio option but the shoyu they have on offer is incredibly tasty. I'd recommend this place and definitely will return at some stage.It is a very popular spot so I recommend getting there early for a drink. I had a Kombucha, which is new to me and it was refreshing.

Centrally located in Sea Point, this has been a favourite place of mine for a few years. Their ramen and poké bowls are delicious. The service, when sitting down, can be relatively slow, but the food is worth the wait.

Loved their Rainbow suchi rolls. The teriyaki sauce made it sooooo memorable!!This was my first place to dine after I landed, the rooibos tea was very calming.The place is great for a date or family dinner and gets quite full, you may want to make a reservation.

Pull my hair and call me Sandra Bullock!!Absolute first time having a ramen dish and sure let me tell you, what a place to experience it at! Not only did it met my expectation but it made me rethink my whole life.Seating options are great, added with the livelihood of the street you will have a good time.
