We cannot say enough good things about Ntafufu Eco Lodge! This place is an absolute gem, highly highly recommend. This was my wife and my honeymoon, and Ntafufu Eco Lodge was our favorite place we stayed at during our month long journey throughout beautiful South Africa. The scenery in the area is unrivaled, the owners are the kindest, most amazing people on earth, the Lodge is absolutely stunning. The whole place is just phenomenal; the attention to detail, cleanliness, the views, etc are amazing. It' so quiet and peaceful, you are up on a mountain overlooking the ocean and the river among fruit trees and birds chirping. You can take their canoes up river to the secluded beach! The owners also provided us with lots of info and recommended things to do in the area. We cannot thank Armin and Sabine enough for making our honeymoon so special! They even sent us off with some of their own litjie fruit, home made honey, mango chutney and more. Just the kindest people on earth. Thank you all so much!

Absolutely fantastically wonderfu!!!!! The view is exquisite. The lapa where we spent most our time is equipped with everything you need to prepare and enjoy your meals while enjoying the view. We didn't want to leave EVER! The owners are great people that make you feel like you are part of their family and I have never experience such superclean accommodations and ablutions. Wow Wow Wow..... Get on the phone and book this place NOW. We will definitely be back.

Even though it rained most of the time, we still had a lovely time here. The area is pristine. The walk down to the canoes is through beautiful indigenous forest, and the beach is magnificent, just waiting to be explored. Our hosts, Armin and Sabine, went out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect. It is the perfect place to unwind. We hope to return and explore some time when the weather is better.

Ntafufu Eco lodge is situated on a hill overlooking the Ntafufu River Mouth. To get there, you have to take an unmarked road about 16km before Port St Johns, drive through the villages and then turn around and backtrack once you get to the river. In all seriousness, there are no route indicators, and the Lodge is easy to miss, but Google Maps will get you there. We were greeted at the gate by Armin and his wife Sabine, as well as their son. Oh, and their dogs and cats! Then you get out and you are warmly greeted and taken on a tour. And the view hits you. And you start noticing attention to detail. A box of matches next to each (new) candle (there is no electricity other than a USB charging point for phones and cameras). There are fresh flowers in the bathrooms. There are fresh herbs and fruit from their garden in the kitchen. There’s enough firewood and lighters to have a massive bonfire. And everything is clean. Sabine went through the effort to equip one of the bathrooms with a small plastic bath, knowing that our 20-month-old was coming. (It was not necessary because we brought our own, but it goes to show the extra effort taken by our “hosts”.) The attention to small things then goes as far as small little flowers in the actual bowl of each toilet. We found Ntatufu by chance (purely by Google), but we are so glad we did. You must book the entire lodge (which can actually sleep a lot of people). There is a well-equipped kitchen with all you will need (even stuff like coffee plungers, sharp knives galore and all the crockery and cutlery you will need). There is also a gas freezer and fridge. Everything is clean. There is a large braai area with ample seating, tables and couches. A braai with a view. Then there’s also a large inside entertainment / dining area. And everything is lit with candlelight.Bedrooms consist of rondawels sleeping 2-4. The bathrooms are shared amongst the different rondawels. Everything is neat, in working order and clean. Towels and bedding are provided. The only bad thing was the humidity that we experienced, and no power meant no fans, but that’s part of the adventure and we are really very glad that we stayed at Ntatufu. From the Lodge’s stoep we saw the largest flock of Trumpeter hornbills I’ve ever seen. The African Wood Owl teased my wife with his call, but she could not spot him.One thing to note is that there is no direct beach access from Ntatufu, you either have to take a canoe ride down the river or drive a long way round to the mouth, both being equally spectacular. We'll be back for sure!

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTICOur experience of this eco-lodge was way beyond what we expected, driving into the Transkei and heading closer towards the lodge we had feelings of “what have we done” due to the surroundings.Once arriving we were greeted by Armin & Sabine and all I can say is absolutely fantastic hosts that went way over and above what was the required and made our vacation a extremely special experience. This lodge is a unbelievable oasis and a special Gem although being on holiday I found myself sitting on the balcony watching the sunrise every morning at 6 AM what a special place.Armin and Sabine spent so much time with our children and the horses that we had major tears leaving the accommodation after three days. This place has such great qualities and I cannot remember when last I was able to switch off and relax this much.Thank you So much Armin / Sabine I am glad to say we are now part of the family and will definitely be back.
