Zulu Nyala Game Lodge - Hluhluwe

We stayed at Zulu Nyala between Christmas and New Years. On our first day there I was saltless fasting and Mr V ensured that my dietary requirements were seen to - I am thankful for that. He is such a warm and welcoming person, and so are the rest of the Zulu Nyala staff. We stayed at Room 11 which oversaw the reserve as well as the pool area and is quite private. If you're looking for tranquility, great hospitality, amazing food, to experience nature in its wonders, then Zulu Nyala is the place!

First of all it is not a Luxurious place. They sell you a vacation with pictures from a place that is closed. And send you to a what they call Heritage, horrible place! They show pictures of a game room that is closed, food was terrible, they try fill you up with bread. Bedroom doors will not close well and mosquitos will get in. Bad maintenance from landscaping to building and rodents in kitchen… Don’t go here. It’s all a lie from their pictures .

Food is good. Rooms clean but could have been better...except for the bugs and critters. I gave 3 stars as the game drive is ok. I saw similar animals at Tala but not as close. Did not get to see the elephants. The manager is an excellent person

Won my trip at a charity auction in 2016, went on my trip with my daughter in Nov 2017. I had never been to Africa before and this place was a fantastic first trip destination. The room was wonderfully comfortable and large. the food was better than I had hoped for, and much cheaper than I had ever expected. our guide was knowledgeable and fun to be with. the animals were spectacular and the additional excursions were relatively inexpensive and so worth it. It has become the trip of my life, especially since we followed it with another week in Madagascar, but that's a whole another fantasy come true!

From the receptionist Zamo to the house keeper lady, Barman , the Head Chef and lastly the owner everything was amazing . We had a great time eating delicious food , the staff were committed to great service and were very friendly. The atmosphere was awesome and i definitely liked that you have modern style. Most importantly, every food and drinks on your menu tasted great . We really enjoyed our stay with my husband i will definitely recommend you

Zulu Nyala lodge is wonderful!We had an amazing time in this beautiful place.The people are warm friendly and so helpful.Our guide Chris was phenomenal as well as funnyOne of our group fell and broke her hip while we were there.The lodge made sure she was well taken care of while in the hospital.V went every day to check on her and make sure she was being well taken care of. I cannot express the gratitude we had for the staff at Zulu Nyala.

Trying to decide between a 2 and 3 star, but went with the positive. Like most others, we got this trip on an auction. The lodge area itself needs alot of maintenance and it seems like it is overwhelming to the current staff. It's my understanding, Mr. Shaw has passed away and the wife and daughters are tryi g to keep it afloat. I do realize it is a reserve and I did lower my expectations a bit...but still several negatives. When we firat arrived, Cindy at the front desk wasn't friendly..said her basic spill and when I asked questions she was a bit snappy and bothered. This happened on 3 seperate encounters with her. The pool turned green and cloudy and litter was near it several days. Saw one guy one morning looking at it but he looked like he was not happy to be there and we were a bother. The food while they tried to mix colots and make it look good, it wasn't...you can only do so much with green peas! Lunch was way basic..no chips, no bread option at night. At this price point, drinks need to be included. They ask f tips, right and left.Pros: JAMES as our guide was the best part! Very helpful and patient !

Had a great experience a few years back. Loved our guide Peace and the rest of staff was wonderful. Great food, good rooms, wonderful animal experiences.

I went there in 2013 and again in 2017. I loved it both times and I look forward to returning. The staff was friendly and the tent glamp was terrific. The food was good and plentiful. Our safari times were incredible with lots of stunning encounters. I would highly recommend Zulu Nyala. There is a Facebook group if you want to get more of a feel for what adventure awaits you. There are plenty of side trips at additional cost but well worth it.
