Super disappointing! Waited for an hour or more for food, which I never received. Eventually left. Not sufficient seating available and ended up standing at an event held here. The artist arrived 2 hours late. Really, for the beautiful spot here, it is such a shame. Can really be such a good place with a good vibe. But I left angry, hungry and hurting feet.

What an amazing event venue which I didn't even knew existed! Something really different. The place to go for exclusivity. Host your next event there. Manager is very efficient & staff walk the extra mile for customers. Got a generator, so you won't even know if it is loadshedding. Money can't buy the vibe in Braamfontein. It is the best. The bookshop accros the street has the best coffee ever.

The waitress was exceptionally kind, helpful and “with it” as this was our first time at Artivist. Dumama & Kechou were GREAT. Fantastic. My only suggestions are: they need to upgrade the PA there - seriously. Also, everything was way too loud (and muddy sound). The dj needs to vary the music she plays s bit. Apart from the loudness the records were non stop “aggressive” acid jazz? I wanted to go up and play some “Blue Train” by Coltrane just to tone it down a bit. You couldn’t hear yourself think. But glad to go again, good night out.

The place has a nice atmosphere BUT what kills the mood is that you pay for event tickets and they start over an hour late, on top of that there’s limited seating and the seating that’s available you’re told that it’s reserved, how do you reserve the only 4 tables at the end paceYou must love the artist performing here to be this patient. Respecting people’s time goes a long way for you to get and retain their loyalty.

The sound was good but a basement needs good ventilation. Also didnt like how they locked the gates. Mon couldn't smoke in the streets. Smoking area was crowded and in a passage leading to the toilets. Did I mention the sound system is legit?

I was recently there for a live music show and didn’t enjoy the experience. Firstly, we wanted to reserve a table for the show because of how full the venue can get when there are live shows but the phone number online doesn’t work. We then decided to get to the venue two hours before the show to get a good seat and when we arrived, we saw that certain tables had been reserved. We asked the waitress how people were able to reserve seats since the phone number doesn’t work and she said the seats were reserved by her for “her people”. We then found empty seats which we thought would give us a great view of the show, only for people who had arrived late to be seated in front of us (this was not a designated seating area - it was an empty space meant for the staff, the band and the artist to move in). We raised this with the manager who wasn’t very helpful. The bouncer was more helpful in moving people who had arrived late and making them sit/stand on the periphery of the venue. It seems the venue had sold more tickets than capacity allows. That, coupled with the waitresses reserving tables for their friends ruined the experience for me.
