#Westdene Dam

An excellent place to chill unwind. Very conducive and calm.

A great place to relax. Beautiful trees, amazing water birds, serene environment. Appears safe. Well looked after at least with little littering. Expansive space. Two outdoor gym equipment and a beautiful kids playground.

Very Relaxing, Friendly For everyone, you can fish in the dam and watching the ducks do their thing is priceless:)

Chilled place to take a breath of fresh air. Great scenery.

Absolutely beautiful, great views and a great place to go for a family walk, picnic, dog walk or a jog to keep fit. It doesn't get too crowded however you will see lots of families and fishing going on on weekends.

The area is really cool and chilled, there's nice silence and, it offers as a great place for a walk or exercise

Nice for scenic long walks, outdoor upper body workouts, jogging, playing football, picnics and family outings.

The dam is located close to UJ and is nice to visit if you want a bit of a stroll outdoors in nature. It seems relatively safe with the new fencing that has been erected around the park perimeter. I always carry a can of pepper spray as an extra safety measure if I visit a less publicly frequented dam. Access and parking are also a bit of a challenge. JHB Parks could do better here!The park itself is a little unkept, and the grass hasn't been cut and maintained in a while. The dam itself has become quite overgrown with water grass and reeds since I last visited a few years ago. But it's still teaming with bird life, and you will see the occasional fish launching itself out of the water and landing with a big splash!I took the kids their half the day, and beside a friendly visit by a group of local kids, we were relatively undisturbed and enjoyed the outing very much!
