TDC Westburt

Still no improvement on highly overdue maintenance and fire regulations. Often without water and then all ablutions are locked. Sick building syndrome is evident. Gardens are shocking. Facilities unused for years.

Firstly, it's TDC Westbury. A reasonably recent construction, the building slings next to Perth Rd, a main thoroughfare with heavy traffic. So it was puzzling to see the entrance from Perth into a parking garage blocked, forcing motorists to approach from another main road around the corner and find their way through unmarked residential streets.Inside, the building seemed to be totally underutilized, with huge areas standing empty. Okay, this was around 11h30 in the morning. Maybe it's another matter after working hours, when the gym and different clubs may be operating.I went there specifically for information regarding pensioner rates rebates, but they do not handle it there. They only do ESP applications, IF your bank account reflects less than R6300 max balance for 3 months. It doesn't matter if your account reflects your life savings, of which you have been living since you have had minimal income for nearly half a year. If it's still more than R6,300.00, you don't qualify for extended support.This was quite a surprise, as these support packages are usually linked to income and not your bank balance. So I double checked with the kind gentleman helping me, but he was adamant that what remained of my savings made me ineligible for any ESP support. This was really a slap in the face as I, as a freelancer of pensionable age, do not receive a state or business pension and am forced to have savings to see me through difficult financial times. To have that count against me when times are really tough says a lot about how present government treats older - and especially creative - people, who have paid taxes all their life!
