SCHOON Stellenbosch Square

Have been here a couple of times, and the service has progressively gotten worse.The waitresses and coffee are great!! If it weren't for them it would be 1 star.The food is good IF they have stock, and WHEN it eventually arrives.Waiting over 1h for a toastie is not cool.We always shop at stellenbosch square but will rather go to another breakfast spot instead..EDIT.. i was typing this after 1h waiting for food.. 1h15min has gone past now. Still waiting...

This has been an incredibly disappointing experience and I cannot recommend Schoon any more. The service is atrocious and the food takes an incredibly long time to arrive. There is always an excuse when we follow up about it. The portions are also ridiculously small for the price and this is the first place I have experienced that has messed up French toast. Attached is a picture. The plate is about the size of a standard side plate. That portion is not worth the R82 price.

Delicious sandwich's. I had the Veggie loaded with tomatoe, avo and rocket. And loved it!Also a great dirty chai.

Atmosphere is trendy and viby. Menu is not varied enough to offer value for money. Service is friendly but indifferent. Toasted sandwiches crust is too hard and normal white bread is not on offer. Definitely room for improvement.

Very low on stock. I ordered two items (because the first was out of stock). The second item was also out of stock. The waitress and manager were very concerned with the back of the restaurant, ignoring us completely.

Great coffee shop! Lots of attention to detail.... very good cappuccino! Always worth you while to put this on your Sourdough bucketlist". Ciabattas also very "lekker"."

What a lovely find. Superb food, friendly service. Lovely ambience. Inside and outside seating. Open during loadshedding, but the oven/grill doesn't work, so those menu items won't be available. They also sell rye, sourdough and lunchbox bread to take home. They have a nifty bread slicer too, so we buy and freeze the bread in smaller portions. Will definitely go back here.

I paid R100 for a small bowl cob salad. Probably a starter bowl valued at around R60 Dressed in a plain olive oil. This was as close to a tasteless meal as you can haveTheir sandwiches are great and I would suggest they remove this dish from the menu..

I have supported Schoon Bakery and Resaurants sinced they opened many years ago as they bake the most amazing sourdough breads. I was extremely dissapointed in the service on Wednesday 22 March 2022 during our breakfast at Schoon Restaurant in Stellenbosch. Apart from the food taking very long (only 2 tables were occupied) I discovered meat sausage ( I ordered xtra fried mushrooms) in my vegan meal. My food was topped with salad and a lot of sauce and I think the staff thought that I would not pick this up. I had to spit out my food as I immediately realized that there was sausage in my food. I immediately called the waiter. My husband ordered sausage as he does not eat pork. It looked like I got 2 mushrooms and parts of sausage that was prepared for my husband in my vegan food. Normally if I ordered xtra mushrooms I would get a seperate portion.What is further very dissapointing was that I communicated the event with the owner and got no response. I will defnately not be eating at Schoon Restaurants ever again especially if this is the mindset of the staff.
