It’s a sin to drive the pass and not stop to take in the spectacular scenery. We did the pass during our last December holiday and spend a couple of hours here. Even then we still felt short changed when we left. You just need to take that hike down to the Tradou River. People can be seen harvesting spring water. Absolutely loved it.

Sometimes you get the opportunity to take the road less traveled and I was fortunate enough to do just that. The Tradouw Pass follows a winding road that runs along the cliff with beautiful scenic views of the cliffs that later opens up to a view over the valley below. There are a number of areas where you can stop and take photos. The road is in a good condition and there isn't a lot of traffic which makes for a relaxed drive.

An unexpectedly beautiful Pass as we cut from Barrydale down towards Swellendam.It offered some lovely stops to admire the sweeping views down towards the valley we were heading to.

The rout has different entry points (you have to hike/climb down) to the river FYI be on the look out for baboons taking food with you is not advised. The water is completely safe to swim in and get this it helped clear up some of my break out on my face I had at the time. I absolutely adore this Beautiful space it's so memorizing. Tradoupas is my favorite relaxation spot, no doubt about it. If you find yourself on this route please make some time in your travels to stop and experience this amazing maintain pass.

Beautiful pass along the R 324. We , my son and me, did it first on 21. October 2021 towards Oudtshoorn. Underway heavy reain, thunder and lightning, what a challenge. But the road is in a good condition. On our way back towards Hermanus on 24. October, clear skies and sunshine. Stunning views.
