Covid definitely put a dampener on our dining expeditions out in the country side over the last 2 years. We were looking for a place to touch base with nature while satisfying our taste buds. The Brown Cat Cafe gives you that experience. Nestled in Bothas Hill surrounded by lush greenery and the valley of the 1000 hills under the watchful eye of the magnificent, majestic Rob Roy Retirement home, definitely a refreshing place for us city dwellers. The menu was discussed by our waitress. She was attentive and patient to our requests and queries. The menu was good. My family enjoyed the steak sandwiches and steak pizza as a main. I'm a vegetarian. I chose the vegetarian pizza. There is a bigger variety of meat dishes on the menu as compared to the vegetarian selection. They can definitely expand on their vegetarian menu. For starters we had crumbled mushrooms and chicken wings. The mushrooms was crunchy and juicy. My companions enjoyed the chicken wings. It was accompanied with 3 types of dips. Washed down with a beautiful old fashioned lime milkshake and chocolate milkshake. It was topped with tongue tripping devine whipped fresh cream peaks. The steak sandwich was oozing with steak and a sunny side egg. It was so big and delicious, my companion was able to eat only 1 slice. My other companion could only eat half of her pizza because it was brimming over with toppings. The vegetarian pizza was covered with tons of toppings. They even swopped toppings for my preference. We took doggy bags. The food was fresh and tasty. We ended our gastronomic experience with waffles, fresh cream and ice-cream. The fresh air just helped us indulge in our sweet treat to the end. We sat outside under the umbrella... It was a breezy sunny day. It was a soulful experience. We heard from the manager that they serve braai meat on Sunday. My family can't wait to go there on a Sunday. Only thing is that you can't rock their without a booking. Worth a Sunday drive and time out for Mum while the kids play. It's a Halaal venue, so feel free to enjoy with family and friends.

Staff is friendly and so welcoming. Definitely make a booking if you're going there as the deck is almost always booked out. It is halal and they have a variety of savory and sweet to choose from. They have an area for children which is perfect for them to play around whilst eating their meals, and parents if sitting outside can oversee the children playing.

What a peaceful spot! My family and I loved the stunning view as well as the scrumptious food! There was quite a delay with the meals for half our table hence the 4 stars. Nevertheless the staff were friendly and we had a lovely time.

Unsafe play area for kids, being on a side of a cliff area this playground should be seriously secured for the safety of children. While we all do our best to watch our children the venue should equally arrange for the safety of children on their behalf! My two year old son nearly fell off over this cliff area and had turned my back for a second to my two older children, we had aunts uncles and grandparents in the same place the least we expected was our children getting over a wall to a drop on the other side thank goodness we got to him in time! The manager on duty was incredibly rude and ubrupt once confronted about our experience with our son and pointed out this safety sign placed in front of the play area. And told us to follow the rules they have in place. This play area should be closed until it is as secure as possible and made sure that the area of the cliff is not accessible to anyone let alone children!
