A great spot along the culmination of 3 different paths from King's Blockhouse pathway/Devil's Gate Hiking Trail, the Newlands Forest Contour Path, and the bottom of the Newlands Forest Ravine pathway. It's an awesome spot to sit a relax for a bit while collecting your thoughts, enjoying the surroundings and planning your next move. Always seems well kept and clean, no trash, not dirty and can fit a ton of people. This is a must stop" for any hike passing by it."

Nice comfortable little picnic area well positioned for hikers who only do the contour path as well as those wishing to do the climb up Newlands Ravine. We did theclimb up the ravine. Quite steep with the first section climbed in the shade and the second part done in hot sun depending on the weather. When you get to the top there is a little resting clearing and after that it is downhill all the way to the parking area,passing the foot of Devils Peak and the harbour, warerfront and Cape Town Stadium in full view.9b

What a beautiful spot. Really nature at its best. After walking for hours just to relax have a sat and a coffee at this spot is what life should b aĺl about.

Never been into Table Mountain by foot but mostly enjoyed the walk up to contour patch from the Newlands Forest entrance. The entire walk is shaded by huge trees which provides great cover on a hot day.I do however think that Cape Town City should creat hiking trail maps for people who have never been there because I do think it would be easy to loose direction and get lost.
