Absolutely loved our camping spot here. The campsite is on soft grass under the weeping willow trees. A beautiful bubbling stream right beside us to fall asleep listening to, I had the most amazing morning dip. Ablutions were clean, we had a spot to make our fire evening fire. Campsites were private and quiet, just how we love them. Divinely peaceful and not too packed on top of one another. We also have an electrical output to plug into, and the ground was level and not difficult to park our van for the night. Absolutely will visit again blissfully.Ps. Mind the sudden speed bumps coming down the mountain into Golden Gate! !!

Lovely views. Friendly staff. Slight road noise but not very busy at night.

Dissapointed! Sanparks really need to improve. Dropped tge ball quite bad! The maintenance shape of the units and facilities are not great. Rude Staff, very argumentative, attitude of well you either stay here or you leave, everything is an effort! Phone continiously rings when you call to make a booking, no one answers, not even the Tourism Manager is answering or opening whatsapps, which we informed Sanparks Head Office about, head office responded with; well

Was lovely camping, although they need to do maintenance desperately to the campsites! The bathrooms were real clean and had real hot water all day. We upgraded to a Chalet for our last evening and the price was minimal. The staff was real friendly and helpful too. The hiking routes are AMAZING and well worth doing!

I stayed in the bungalow for one night. The rondawel was fairly well equipped, but very basic. There is a kitchen with a two-plate stove and a microwave and kettle. The bathroom has a hot shower. The bed was do-able, but not very comfortable. There were enough hot bedding though.Overall I would say that this is a bit overpriced for what you get, but the access to the environment makes it worth your while.

The camp site lack so much maintenance. Basins blocked, leaking water, grass and edges not been maintained, some braai 's not completed. No, this was such a letdown. Unfortunately some squatters also noticed. The park is still as beautiful as ever.

If you are looking for a quiet getaway in the mountains then skip this place. Arrived at night and woke up in the morning to 3 taxi loads of students arriving in the parking lot opposite. Music at full volume and people screaming at the top of their voices even though close to each other. The tour cuts through the camp site before going into the mountains. The road is also very close to the site so you have vehicles driving past at all hours. Very pricey to stay one night with the conservation levy as well as community levy added to the bill. Ablutions not up to scratch. What a pity as we were going to spend 3 nights there but left the next morning. Scenery is very good though.

18 June 2023. Seems like the accommodation has been renovated recently. A much better park than the Kruger National Park. Unfortunately no restaurant at the camp and the food served at the nearby hotel is not fit for human consumption.Cultural Village not operating on the days we were there.Maintenance office very helpful and fast to attend repairs.

Whilst the park itself is wonderful and a joy to visit, Glen Reenen needs some serious love. For a start some of the lesser-used trails are becoming bad eroded and require new erosion logs and new fences at exposed areas. The path between Mushroom Rock and Wodehouse Peak, the path between the camp and Langtoon Dam, and the Ribbok Trail between Brandwag and the main entrance all need management intervention. Then the camp itself. It is clean and neat from first observation but there is building material rubble and litter on the outskirts of the camp which is unsightly. I picked up most of the rubbish behind our chalet and some of it looked very old indicating it hadn't been cleaned in a while. The reception itself is dark and cold with posters stuck onto surfaces and windows with Prestik. It looks very unprofessional. Also let's lose the COVID info - we're done with that. The reception staff took an absolute age to process our Wild Cards, although in fairness this takes forever at every Park. Why do we get asked about the card details? Surely these are on the system? SANParks really needs to sort out the Wild Card system so that it functions as it is supposed to.Finally our chalet. Very sub-standard. Missing items in the kitchen, stove plats that don't work, one shower's hot water didn't work, the water pressure in the showers was terrible. There is no softness to the chalets - no carpets, no pillows on seats, no couch. Not to mention a broken window in the one bathroom and poor finishes around the sinks. The geyser temperature needs to be sorted out as well. It was insanely hot, such that the water out of the hot tap was scalding hot! Turn it down and save some power. The one plus is the bed was comfortable and the views are great butreally SANParks needs to do better. Management is totally lacking it seems.Maybe some money could've been spent on the camp instead of being used to build a new Dinosaur Intepretation" Centre which is still not open."
