Quaint and absolutely lovely find! A great little place for the entire family, good social distancing, awesome food, coffee and icecream, and beautiful old locomotives to explore and spend time with. 10/10 would recommend a detour on a Sunday morning to discover this place!

A walk through history. The beautifully preserved Hilton Station is home to this wonderful coffee shop. Tranquil, aesthetic and poignant, this is a definite stop for your early morning coffee fix.Lovely savoury muffins, croissants and the good ‘ol bacon and egg rolls. It’s easy to get lost here for the morning with the wonderful atmosphere!

An absolute gem.Fantastic setting in recreating the old station into a type of living museum. Lots of great seating, great for kids to play and a lovely outdoor atmosphereGreat coffee; Dave Ballance is a master on his espresso machine, and his coffee is up there with the best in the Midlands and SA. Perfect temperature, great taste.This will not be a disappointing visitTasty snacks, treats, scenes et cetra to compliment any visit.

Our first stop, was the small town of Hilton, which was by default, as this was the entry point that we found on the map to start our Midlands Meander adventure. Upon our arrival in Hilton, we were delighted to find that this is a very interesting little town with lots of little shops and a railway station which used to be used to transport working folk to Pietermaritzburg daily. We heard from a local resident that up until 20 years ago the trains were still operational, it was rather sad to see so many steam engines abandoned and rusting away. The locals have started using the old railway station buildings and we found some interesting little shops and restaurants that serve local food. One industrious shop owner has even used a train cattle truck as a shop. They also have a museum but sadely it was closed and we were unable to see what they have. All in all we spent a very nice day in Hilton and can recommend the tea and scones at the old railway station .

Beautiful.... A must for all train lovers and anybody old and young. The staff are friendly, will go out of their way to accomodate anyone. Please support the restoration of this historic site!!!

Station Stop Coffee Shop
An absolutely delightful coffee shop. I ended up here, with my laptop, because we were without electricity at home. Thankfully there are numerous plug points to provide patrons with access to electricity.The place is adorned with decor and memorabilia from the train station's past. The view beyond the old tracks looks onto distant farm fields on the hillside.Most importantly the coffee is top-draw!

Simply the most focussed barista and great coffee each and every time. The old world charm of the historic Hilton Station is worth stopping for and smelling the locally roasted beans. I love this place, more than just coffee here. #coffee #localislekker

Delighted to see the restoration efforts happening here. Good coffee and muffins. Limited menu but a wonderful place to pop in for a coffee and a chat. You are able to climb on the old train engines but be warned most are in pretty bad shape. Climb at your own risk!
