Thompsons Beach
Beautiful clean untainted beach. Few minutes walk from neighboring hotels around Chakas Cove. Huge tidal pool for the brave experienced swimmers. Small safe puddles from Tidal pools for kids to play in under direct supervision of adults.Clean sands. Not overcrowded. No littering observed. Friendly happy and civilized people met all around. Security guy on duty (23/04/2023 @10:00) at entrance was friendly and doing his job well. Umbrella vendor guy was very handy. Ablution facilities needs better management. Maybe put someone who can clean, provide toilet paper and maintain them at a minimal fee (R5.00). Job creation.

A bit of a walk down to the beach. No shop / stall to buy anything down on the beach, so make sure to take your drinks and snacks down with you. There is a huge tidal pool with bathroom facilities (not very clean, and had no loo paper). Be aware, the swimming beach has rather hectic waves and side currents. Overall a lovely beach!

It was 1 Sunday morning and it was literally a hot morning. I felt I could do a walk on the beach or just go for a peaceful drive along the beach roads. So driving along Ballito side & we ended up in this beautiful serene atmosphere. Its called the hole in the wall in Thompson’s bay were not many people know about this place. Very exciting. I will be sure to visit this beauty again coming very early along with my picnic basket and well dressed for the beach and tidal pool. Loved climbing up the rocks and just sitting there enjoy nature. Hearing the sound of the waves and birds chirping and singing. Not much of a walk going down to the beach. Very safe. Lots of parking. Just park your car. There are car guards..& walk you go. Be sure to carry everything with you otherwise you will have to walk up again. This was quiet an adventure. Really enjoyed.

I did not visit during peak season, so I comment as an out of season visitor. This beach is truly beautiful. Small, cozy and truly beautiful.Do make sure not to overlook the tide pools, you don't necessarily need to swim in them, but do go have yourself a little looksie. Also, be sure not to miss the hole in the wall (just past the tide pools) and the even smaller, more secluded beach behind it.

Thompsons Beach
A relatively intimate beach located in the northern region of Ballito. This is currently one of the few beaches in the (Greater) Durban region thus it’s definitely worth the 30-40 minute drive from Durban CBD, to enjoy. It’s clean, not overly populated and extremely serene. This beach is also kid-friendly and provides a solid day out at the beach. There are picnic benches available on site. The key attraction is the “hole in the wall”, as well as the rock pool. These unique features give Thompson’s Beach that edge. There’s relatively adequate parking on site, as well as street parking. This is a beautiful beach and definitely worth the outing!

Lovely beach with big tidal pool, hole in the wall close by and if you walk through it you will get to some tiny bays with more private beaches.Safe parking just up the wooden walk way.Showers are here too and life guards.

A great beach for families with kids but gets busy on weekends and holidays. There is parking (& car guards) at the top and one must walk down a boardwalk to the beach. It's worth a swim in the pool if you're not keen to swim in the ocean.

Has been improved and done up so nicely. Great beach for parents with small kiddies. There are two quieter beaches if you head through the hole in the wall, and then up some stairs over a little hill.
