A once in a life time opportunity to visit Rorkes Drift ticked from my bucket list. Paul was very knowledgable we had a fantastic tour of Isandawala and Rorkes Drift - the food was great, accommodation great couldn't fault the visit.

The rooms are recently redecorated and absolutely beautiful. The food is superb! Some of the best food we had during our stay in South Africa. Would definitely recommend.

WARNING: The last 6km of road REQUIRES a 4wd. I undertook this road in a low rental car, and while the car made it down the road and back, we needed to exchange it for a new rental car the next day.To get there even from Dundee, it’s approximately 23km on a dirt/gravel road, in varying conditions but largely drivable. The last part to the accommodation should seriously NOT be done. You may park your car at the Rorke’s Drift Museum (24 hour security), and they will pick up from there and bring you to the chalets. We stayed only one night, and took a tour of the battlefields with Thulani (+27834263514 - I strongly recommend), but the chalets were very cutely decorated, and the staff, particularly Ben and Bali, really went out of their way for us, even though my mom was freaking out about the road and the car.Meals are available on site, I have included the menu in the pictures.

This place is a piece of heaven. Cannot be faulted on the quality of the accommodation, the wonderful food service and the ambience that can only be described as pure joy. Well worth the entertaining journey across terrain that is not for the fainthearted or the ill prepared. The website prepares you for that so don't whinge about how your low slung wheels struggled to cope.

We stayed at Rorke's Drift Lodge from August 23-August 26, 2018. We found the lodge delightful. The room was clean, spacious and charming. The food was very good. The view and general ambiance of the grounds were wonderful. We engaged Paul to guide us around the battle fields at Rorke's Drift and Isandlwana. He was knowledgeable and thorough. Our stay was all I had hoped for.

Rorke's Drift Lodge
We visited in October 2018 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our accommodation was very pleasant, with a proper kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom. The food provided was excellent and plentiful. Yes, it is a long way off a tarmac road with a very interesting last few kilometres but this is made clear beforehand and just lends to the atmosphere of being out in the bush. We had a spare day so were able to go off exploring the farm and enjoy the spectacular views. The tour of the battlefields led by Paul was comprehensive and thought-provoking. This is quite a long day so be prepared, especially if you have children. The packed lunch provided was again delicious.Would definitely recommend this location if you are interested in the history of this area.

We can fully recommend Rorke's Drift Lodge as a place to visit. We very much enjoyed our 2 days' stay there - the beauty of the nature, the horse rides in the morning and especially the hospitality. In hindsight we regret not having stayed there for another couple of days. Ulrike & Wilhelm from Germany were there in 2018

Rorke's Drift Lodge
A wonderful stay at a wonderful lodge with a wonderful trip to Isandlwana and the Rorke's Drift battle site. Paul is knowledgeable about ALL aspects of the Anglo-Zulu war, and anything associated with it. What a pleasure to hear his stories.Sadly there were no other visitors due to Covid. The only downside is the last 5kms of farm road.

Rorke's Drift Lodge
Of the several accommodation options for visitors to the Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift historical sites we chose Rorke's Drift Lodge because it seemed to promise something different. It did!We expected the last few miles of the access road to be a bit of a challenge but it proved easily manageable in anything other than a low-slung sports car. The lodge is nestled in wonderful rural Zululand landscape giving the impression of complete seclusion. The flexible evening meal arrangement with the option of self catering was welcome as we chose to have our own braai" on a perfect evening for outdoor catering. The breakfasts provided were exquisite!Of course
