Tempest Car Hire Cape Town Airport

Still waiting for my security deposit to be refunded. It’s been 26 days now and I still haven’t received it back on my credit card, the credit card bill now needs to be paid. Received no communication from Tempest!! They don’t answer their phone.

Our vehicle was full of scratches, which wasn’t noted on the drawing. Also with a terrible smell of cigarette smoke. What a bad experience. None of the branch personnel were interest to leave their cosy office, to come & look at the vehicle

We have recently completed our journey to SA. Booked the car via email, they were absolute professionals, landed in Cape Town, it was a breeze to pick up the vehicle, we have got exactly what we were promised to get. Drove from Cape Town to Johannesburg over 3 week period and dropped it at the Airport, with no issues and were refunded the full deposit. The staff members were courteous and did not have any issues. I will be using their service again. Well done team!

I like this car hire. This is the second time I use it. The first time everything was perfect and I was extremely satisfied with the service I got. However this time the car the gave me didn't smell very nice and although I can see it had just been washed, the was water spots on the window. Either than that there was nothing wrong with the car and I really enjoyed driving around with it.To make things worse when I asked for an upgrade I was told that they were out of cars.In terms of the staff I would give them 5 out of 5. They have amazing customer service skills. Both times I was there I was talking to them like they were my friends. It is for this reason I will always use tempest car hire for my trips even though I haven't really had much experience with other car hiring services.I therefore highly recommend this place for hiring a car, I am sure you won't be disappointed.

This rental company are running a scam: You rent a certain size car, when you then come in, they try to give you a smaller car. Just reject that and say you want what you ordered, then they give it to you. They have tried this multiple time, and now that we know about this scam, we will book from another company….

Car was OK but that's about all. Process of getting into the car and the service and assistance received appalling. Then upon departing from Cape Town and giving the car back another issue. No staff anywhere to give the keys to. Had to go to their office and hand the keys back there. Shame on you.

I would have given Tempest a ZERO star rating.This was the first time using Tempest and based on my dealing with them, it is the worst car rental company I had to deal with (and I travel on average every 2nd week on business and renting a car is normal" for me). As per many other reviews this company is just completely unprofessional with no ethics. I returned the car well within the the return time (5th Dec)

Most pathetic service I've ever received. You get quoted an amount but when you get there all of a sudden one has to pay an exorbitant amount no where near what was quoted. Staff are rude, unhelpful and very unfriendly. Hidden costs all over the place. Prepare yourself for them to take monies off your account even months after your rental.Make sure you take photos of the entire vehicle before you even get in and take pictures of the kilometers and anything that doesn't look right. They don't check it with you before you leave or after you return it. They just send you a bill and deduct from your account. Even if you fill up the car with petrol at the airport when you return the car, which isn't even 600 meters away, they still deduct a fuel levy, which in this car works out to 10% of a full tank of petrol.I'll rather take public transport than deal with Tempest or EuropCars again.

Waited very long to be helped. The service was okay. Only two workers behind the counter. The cleaning lady kept mopping behind me, touching my bags and shoes with her mop..

Awful. Car was just about alright but make sure you don't get any damage. Dented the bumper and on return was told 'don't worry, the insurance covers it'. Then received multiple emails for payment for the damage for different amounts, some from debt collection companies. When asked to supply an invoice to confirm the amount actually due, this was apparently impossible. As was providing a payment confirmation so I am unable to claim from my own excess insurance. Genuinely terrible service. Avoid if you can.
