South African Birth Photography Association

I have been working with SABPA for a few months now to support with their social media, and I have nothing but praise and admiration for what SABPA stands for.All the birth photographers are so committed and passionate about what they do, and it certainly shines through in their work.Keep up the fantastic work you are all doing to showcase what a professional association you are!

SABPA is a professional and highly respected body in the Birthing and Medical community. I am proud to be a registered member, giving clients assurance that correct procedures are followed at all times and that hospital rules and regulations are kept. This ensures that the service we as SABPA members provide is of the highest quality and professionalism.

Alda and I started this association knowing there were too many women giving birth than we could ever document ourselves. We were also dreaming of an industry where the doors could be opened for many all across Southern Africa. We chose community over competition and joined our brains together to make a way.I am really proud and a little dumbfounded at how many of you today are doing this!!!! I'm so proud of Kristen van Staden who leads it today. She has a vision and heart for the future of this industry.SABPA is known for really smart-professional-talented business women who also have a sense of comradery. If you are serious about being a professional birth photographer this is the first important step in that journey: joining!

Being part of a controlled birth photography association reassures parents, the medical team as well as the photographer that the level of service, privacy and adhering to Hospital protocol will be of the highest standard.SABPA is a close knit group that looks after it’s members with the main focus on providing a high industry standard service to the public.The training provided by those taking the lead have enriches all and we are so privileged that they are spearheading negotiations and forming new relationships with Hospital Groups and Medical teams across South Africa.SABPA is not only an amazing association of Birth Photographers but also includes specialists in the Pre and Post Natal Field. As a photographer, it was never a question for me to not be a part of an association when pursuing birth photography. The safety of a mother and her baby are my absolute priority above and beyond any image! So to equip myself with knowledge of the rules and regulations surrounding this form of photography, I wholeheartedly believe that being a SABPA member is there for both the parents and the photographers best interest. It exists to make sure we all get the best out of this incredible experience and their reputation is proof of their hard work and dedication!
